Read your current sidewall before you order. The ETRTO number, such as 32-622, gives tire width and bead-seat diameter in millimetres: 622 fits 700c and 29-inch rims, and 559 is a 26-inch mountain rim. Tubes cover a width range, for example 700x25–32, and must match your valve type, with narrow Presta valves on most road and gravel rims and Schrader on many kids', city and older mountain bikes. Valve length matters on deep-section rims, so pick 60 mm or 80 mm if 42 mm will not reach. For wet spring commutes, puncture-protection belts and reflective sidewalls earn their keep. Grab a pump that suits your valve.

What does 700x32 or 32-622 on a tire mean?

Both describe the same size. 700x32 is the traditional label for a 700c tire 32 mm wide, and 32-622 is the ETRTO code giving width and bead-seat diameter in millimetres. Matching the ETRTO number avoids the mix-ups that inch and French sizes can cause.

Presta or Schrader: which valve do I need?

Match the valve hole in your rim. Presta valves are slimmer and common on road and gravel wheels, while Schrader valves are the same type used on car tires. A small adaptor lets you fill a Presta tube from a Schrader pump.

Should I switch to tubeless tires?

Tubeless tires such as the Continental Archetype run without a tube, using liquid sealant to plug small punctures and allowing lower pressures. You need tubeless-ready rims, tubeless valves and sealant top-ups every few months. Carry a spare tube anyway in case of a cut too large to seal.
