Hockey Helmet Parts & Face Shields

Small parts that put a helmet back in game shape: replacement chin straps and moulded chin cups from A&R Sports, YOUR LAST STRAP, Clocean, Shappy and MingQiEven; helmet repair kits with J-clips, R-clips, screws, nuts and buckles, including Bauer's 22-piece universal kit; stainless visor screws and a TronX spacer kit for setting visor height; and slider clips for goalie mask straps. There is also a Bauer Concept 3 senior full face shield and a CCM Vector V08 helmet. This is a parts and fix-up range, not a full helmet wall.

Before you order, match the part to the helmet: note the brand, model and the clip type or screw length you are replacing. Hockey Canada's fitting guide says to use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts, and that drilling holes or removing side straps, clamps or the chin cup voids CSA certification. Hockey Helmet Parts & Face Shields: frequently asked questions

Can I replace a chin strap or screws without voiding the helmet's CSA certification?

Hockey Canada's equipment guide says to use only manufacturer-approved replacement parts on helmets, and that alterations such as drilling extra holes or removing side straps, clamps or the chin cup void CSA certification. Rule 3.6 adds that any alteration to a certified helmet or facial protector destroys the certification. Replace like for like in the existing holes, and check your helmet maker's instructions or parts list before fitting a third-party part.

Can a youth player wear a half visor instead of a full cage or shield?

No. Under Hockey Canada Rule 3.6, a CSA-certified full facial protector is compulsory in minor and female hockey and in every division except Senior and Major Junior, where a visor is also allowed. CSA certifies visors (yellow sticker) for players 18 and older. Where half visors are allowed, a mouthguard is compulsory, though only recommended in Senior. Full protectors for skaters carry a white sticker for any age or orange for 10 and under; goalie masks carry blue.

Does a hockey helmet expire in Canada?

Hockey Canada says there is currently no expiry on CSA certification, and the date on the CSA sticker is the year the helmet was made. The expiry date on HECC stickers relates to USA Hockey certification and does not apply in Canada. Lifespan depends on use, care and storage; replace a helmet that is cracked, has loose fittings or missing liner pieces, or has taken a severe impact. Keep the CSA sticker on and visible.
