Hockey Bags

A good bag keeps gear organised and lets it dry out between ice times. This range covers full-size equipment bags, including the Bauer Core Carry and Core Wheel bags in youth size, TRAILKICKER 40- and 42-inch duffels with skate guards included, an Athletico 35-inch duffel with a removable skate caddy, and the Winnwell Classic team bag. Alongside them are stick bags from CCM, Bauer, EALER, A&R Sports and AAA Hockey Pro, puck bags from CCM and EALER, skate and blade bags, tape and accessory pouches from Howies and EALER, the CCM team backpack and a Bauer jersey garment bag.

Size the bag to the player: youth and junior gear fits a smaller bag, while senior pads, pants and skates need a full-size duffel or team bag. Wheel bags help younger players manage arena hallways; carry bags pack into a trunk more easily. For stick bags, check how many senior or goalie sticks are listed and the inside length. Hockey Bags: frequently asked questions

Is a wheel bag or a carry bag better for minor hockey?

A wheel bag, such as the Bauer Core Wheel Bag with its telescoping handle, lets a young player pull their own gear through the arena parking lot and hallways to the change room. The trade-off is extra weight and a rigid frame that takes more trunk space. A carry bag like the Bauer Core Carry or a TRAILKICKER duffel is lighter and squeezes into tight spaces, but has to be carried on the shoulder, so it suits older players.

Will a stick bag fit a full-length senior stick?

Hockey Canada's rules cap a player's stick at 1.60 m (63 in.) from the heel to the end of the shaft, and a goalie stick at 1.4 m (55 in.), so measure your stick and compare it with the bag's listed length. Fixed bags list how many senior or goalie sticks they hold; adjustable ones like the AAA Hockey Pro bag or the Hikeen travel bag (adjusts up to 70.8 in.) let you set the length. The CCM 34-inch mini stick bag is only for mini sticks.

How do I stop a hockey bag from smelling?

The smell comes from damp gear sitting closed in the bag. Take everything out after each skate and hang it to dry on a rack or hooks, ideally somewhere with airflow rather than in a cold car. Wash base layers, socks and practice jerseys regularly, and follow the maker's care label for pads. Vented panels, like the vented top on the Athletico duffel, and mesh-vented skate bags help airflow but do not replace unpacking.
