Camping Hammocks

Here you will find camping hammocks and the gear that turns one into a full shelter: hammock tents with mosquito nets, rain tarps and underquilts, along with hammock chairs and aerial yoga hammocks for home. Backcountry options include ENO, ONETIGRIS and Night Cat, from ultralight single hammocks to a four-person hot tent.

For Canadian summers, a built-in mosquito net is close to essential, and a tarp of around 3 x 3.5 m gives room to cook and change out of the rain. Because a sleeping bag compresses under your weight, cool nights call for an underquilt or an insulated pad, especially in spring and fall. Check the weight capacity, and use wide tree straps that spread the load and protect bark. Flat-lay designs from Night Cat suit back sleepers. Pair yours with a tent tarp, and read our backcountry camping guide before heading out.

Brands include Qevooon, Sunyear and Travel Bird.

In this range: tent tarps, yoga, camping chairs and tents.

Camping Hammocks: frequently asked questions

Why do hammock campers use an underquilt?

Insulation in a sleeping bag gets crushed flat under your body, so cool air moving beneath the hammock draws heat away quickly. An underquilt hangs outside the hammock and keeps its loft. On cool nights it often makes a bigger difference than a warmer sleeping bag.

How should I hang a camping hammock?

Choose two healthy trees about 3.5 to 4.5 metres apart and use wide straps rather than rope. Aim for the suspension to sit at roughly a 30-degree angle, with the hammock low enough to sit down into like a chair. Lie on a slight diagonal to get a flatter position.

Is a hammock tent or a regular hammock better for camping?

A hammock tent includes a bug net and often a rain fly in one package, which simplifies setup in bug season. A basic hammock is lighter and cheaper, and you can add a separate net and tarp later. For lounging with family, a triangle or multi-person hammock is another option.
