Built for car campers who want a comfortable basecamp, the Evanston balances living space, ventilation, and weather resistance. It combines a main sleeping area with a separate screened room that keeps insects out while letting in light and airflow. Patented WeatherTec welded floors and inverted seams help shed water, while rainfly awnings and Insta-Clip pole attachments simplify setup and increase stability.
The Evanston is designed to sleep six people in the main dome or expand into an 8-person layout by using the screened porch for sleeping on warm nights. The screened room adds a usable covered area for gear, relaxing, or dining without tracking bugs into the sleeping area. Headroom and a near-vertical wall profile in the main cabin help maximize standing and storage space.
Weather protection centers on the included rainfly, which creates awnings over zippered windows and the porch to keep rain off entry points. The WeatherTec system—welded floors plus inverted seams—reduces water intrusion at vulnerable seams and the floor perimeter. Insta-Clip pole attachments and a robust pole structure provide a stable frame under typical campsite wind conditions.
The tent uses a mesh roof section and large screened porch to increase airflow and bring daylight into the interior. Mesh panels in the doors and roof let breezes pass through while keeping insects out, and the porch offers a shaded, airy lounge area. Rainfly windows can be propped to allow cross-ventilation without direct exposure to light rain.
Assembly focuses on a simple pole layout with Insta-Clip attachments that speed pole-to-fabric connection, lowering setup time compared with traditional sleeve-only tents. The rainfly installs quickly and can remain on during moderate conditions. When breaking camp, the full-floor porch and organized pockets make it easier to keep gear together and pack efficiently.
Who this tent is for: The Coleman Evanston suits families, car campers, and weekend groups who want a campsite that doubles as comfortable living space. It’s a good option for campers prioritizing a bug-free lounge area, easy setup, and reliable weather features without stepping up to expedition-grade equipment. If you want a versatile, roomy tent for seasonal camping at established sites, the Evanston covers sleeping, storage, and sheltered social space in one package.
Q: Can the screened porch be used for extra sleeping space?
A: Yes — the full-floor screened porch can accommodate sleeping pads for extra sleepers on warm nights.
Q: Is the rainfly included and does it protect against heavy rain?
A: The rainfly is included and offers good rain protection; welded floors and inverted seams reduce water entry but avoid extreme weather use.
