Free Range Designs Composting Toilet Urine Diverter Wrap-Around Insert White, Fits 5-Gallon Buckets, Easy-Clean ABS

The Free Range Designs Complete Wrap-Around Urine Diverter is a full-coverage urine-separating insert for bucket and small-space toilets that keeps liquids away from solids for drier, cleaner composting.

Designed for compact and off-grid sanitation setups, this urine diverter offers a continuous ring of separation beneath a seated toilet opening. It is moulded from high-gloss ABS for quick wiping, includes a removable stainless-steel filter to prevent blockages, and fits standard 5-gallon buckets or can be mounted into a wooden surround. Handmade in Wales and supplied with a 10-year guarantee, the unit aims to simplify DIY compost toilet builds for camper vans, cabins, boats and emergency toilets.

How does this diverter stop smells in a compost toilet?

By channeling urine away from the solid waste chamber the diverter keeps the compost pile drier and more aerobic, which reduces the conditions that generate odors. It forms a continuous ring under the seat to separate liquids reliably for seated users.

• Wrap-around design prevents splashing into solids
• Urine outlet directs liquid into a separate container or soakaway
• Removable stainless-steel filter prevents debris entering the outlet
• Zero water and no chemicals required

Will it fit my 5-gallon bucket or campervan toilet hole?

The diverter is tailored to sit on standard 5-gallon buckets and can also be screwed into wooden surrounds used in vans, tiny homes or cabins. Its continuous rim creates a neat finish for narrow or compact installations where a full surround is preferable.

• Sits over standard 5-gallon buckets without modification
• Fixes into wooden surrounds with simple screws—no special tools
• Compact profile suitable for campervans, narrowboats and sheds

How do you maintain and clean the unit?

The high-gloss ABS surface wipes clean easily and the stainless-steel filter lifts out for clearing or rinsing. Routine maintenance is minimal: wipe the plastic finish and inspect the filter and outlet for debris to keep flow working smoothly.

• Wipe-clean ABS surface for quick maintenance
• Removable stainless filter for easy clearing
• Simple screw-fit for quick removal or replacement

What is the build quality and warranty?

This diverter is handmade in Wales from robust 4mm ABS plastic and supplied with a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing defects (terms apply). The construction is intended to withstand regular use in small-scale and mobile sanitation setups.

• Tough 4mm ABS for impact resistance and easy cleaning
• Handmade finish from a small family business in Wales
• 10-year manufacturing guarantee included (T&Cs apply)
