Dakine Poacher 14L Backpack, Black, One Size — Compact Avalanche-Ready Ski & Snowboard Pack with Hydration Sleeve and Fleece Goggle Pocket

The Dakine Poacher 14L is a compact, low-profile ski and snowboard pack built to carry essential avalanche safety gear, a hydration reservoir or radio, and secure skis or a board for short backcountry laps and lift-access days.

Designed as the most minimalist option in Dakine’s Poacher line, this 14-liter pack balances slim on-mountain carry with pockets and attachment systems that keep tools, goggles and a helmet accessible without bulk. The updated backpanel improves comfort and flex while the pack’s attachment options handle diagonal or vertical ski and snowboard carry. It’s sized for quick outings where you want safety essentials and a streamlined profile.

How does the Poacher 14L keep essential avalanche gear organized?

The pack includes a dedicated snow tools/shovel pocket with sleeves so probes and a shovel can be stowed separately from clothing and electronics. Internal organization minimizes clutter while keeping rescue items reachable without digging through the main compartment.

• Separate shovel pocket with internal sleeves for probe and handle
• Low-volume main compartment for avy kit and spare layers
• Oversized fleece-lined goggle pocket to protect lenses from scratches

Can I carry skis or a snowboard with this compact pack?

Yes—Dakine designed the Poacher 14L with flexible carry options to suit different rides: use the diagonal or A-frame ski/splitboard carry for skis or the vertical carry for a snowboard. The attachment points hold gear securely while keeping the pack close to the body so it rides well on lifts and skin tracks.

• Diagonal or A-frame ski/splitboard carry configurations
• Vertical snowboard carry option for easy board transport
• Low-profile fit maintains balance and freedom of movement

Does the pack support hydration and communication devices?

The Poacher 14L is insulated-hydration compatible so you can add a reservoir for on-the-go fluids and keep the hose from freezing. There’s also routing for a two-way radio handset so you can maintain communication with your group when exiting the resort or traveling in the backcountry.

• Insulated hydration compatibility with hose routing
• Two-way radio handset compatible routing for hands-free comms
• Secure pockets keep electronics separated from wet gear

What comfort and protective features does this pack include?

Updated backpanel construction improves flex and comfort for active days on the mountain, while compatibility with DK Impact Spine Protectors adds an extra layer of back protection if you choose to install one. Helmet attachment loops and a fleece-lined goggle pocket add convenience without increasing bulk.

• Updated backpanel for improved flex and on-body comfort
• Front helmet attachment loops for quick stash
• DK Impact Spine Protector compatibility (sold separately)

Who is this for? The Dakine Poacher 14L is aimed at skiers and snowboarders who prioritize a slim, purpose-driven pack for short backcountry tours, quick bootpack objectives and lift-access days. If you need enough space for avalanche essentials, a shovel/probe, goggles and light layers while keeping a low profile on the hill, this pack offers a focused, comfortable solution without excess volume.
