Douglas Football Butterfly Restrictor Collar, Bolt-On Neck Support — Black, Low-Profile Ventilated

Douglas Football Butterfly Restrictor Cowboy Collar is a bolt-on neck support that secures to shoulder pads to limit unwanted head and neck movement while remaining ventilated and low-profile.

This collar is built for players who need extra neck control without added heat or bulk. Designed to attach directly to shoulder pads, the Douglas Butterfly Restrictor stays in place through tackles and scrambles, making it especially useful for linemen, linebackers, and power running backs. The black finish keeps a clean, professional look on the field while the shape and construction prioritize comfort and range of motion.

How does this collar attach to shoulder pads and stay secure?

The Douglas model bolts directly to most standard shoulder pad mounting points, turning the collar into an integrated component rather than a loose accessory. This method prevents shifting during play and keeps the protective surface aligned with the neck and upper shoulders.

• Bolt-on hardware designed for common pad configurations
• Rigid base that resists rotation during contact
• Low-profile mount to maintain natural helmet movement

What kind of protection and movement can I expect when wearing it?

The Butterfly Restrictor supports and limits excessive backward and lateral head movement while allowing necessary mobility for play. It is aimed at reducing uncontrolled motion rather than eliminating all head tilt, so players retain the ability to look and pivot.

• Contoured shape supports neck and upper shoulders
• Restricts extreme hyperextension and uncontrolled side-to-side motion
• Profiles to keep shoulder and helmet clearance for normal range of play

Will this collar make me hotter or interfere with comfort?

Douglas engineered this collar to avoid the insulating, heat-trapping feel of older neck rolls. Materials and profile favor airflow and reduce trapped warmth so athletes can wear it longer during games and practices with less discomfort.

• Open, butterfly-style design encourages ventilation
• Smooth exterior reduces friction against jerseys and pads
• Low bulk keeps neck and helmet alignment comfortable

Which players and pad types is this best suited for?

This bolt-on restrictor is ideal for front-seven players and anyone who engages in heavy collisions and needs a secure collar that won’t move. It pairs best with traditional and modern shoulder pads designed for bolt-on accessories.

• Recommended for linemen, linebackers, and power running backs
• Compatible with shoulder pads that accept bolt-on attachments
• Black finish fits team colors and equipment aesthetics

Who is this for? Players who want a durable, ventilated neck support that mounts solidly to shoulder pads will benefit most. Coaches and equipment managers seeking a low-profile solution for limiting excessive head motion without adding heat or significant bulk should consider this collar. If you need a bolt-on, easy-to-align accessory that stays put during contact and allows natural movement, the Douglas Butterfly Restrictor Cowboy Collar is built for that role.
