Franklin Sports Kids Saucer Sled — Arctic Trails 22" Round Plastic Snow Saucer with Handles, Heavy-Duty

The Franklin Sports Arctic Trails 22" Kids Saucer Sled is a durable, single-rider plastic snow saucer with molded handles and a 250 lb capacity for fast, controlled downhill fun.

Built from heavy-duty plastic and shaped for speed, this round Arctic Trails saucer sled delivers reliable performance on backyard slopes, neighborhood hills, and resort sled runs. Its lightweight construction makes it easy for kids to carry back up the hill, while molded side handles provide better steering and stability on bumpy runs. At 22 inches across and rated to hold up to 250 pounds, the saucer accommodates solo riders from children to many adults.

How does this saucer sled perform on different snow conditions?

The slick plastic surface is designed to glide over packed and fresh snow, giving fast runs without sticky drag. Deep powder will slow the sled somewhat, but the saucer’s rounded shape helps it float over softer sections. Icy or very hard-packed snow yields the quickest speeds, so control with the molded handles becomes more important.

• Slick plastic finish for smooth glide on packed snow
• Rounded saucer shape aids flotation in light powder
• Molded handles improve steering on faster runs
• Best used on moderate to steep, clear sledding paths

Is the sled sturdy and safe for repeated use?

Franklin Sports constructed this Arctic Trails saucer from heavy-duty plastic that resists cracking and flexing under normal sledding use. The design keeps weight limits in mind — a 250-pound capacity supports a wide range of riders without compromising integrity. While no sled is impact-proof, this model’s simple, rugged form minimizes weak points and withstands regular outdoor play.

• Heavy-duty plastic resists wear and cracking
• 250 lb maximum weight capacity for broader use
• Molded handles reduce hand slippage and improve control
• Lightweight for repeated carrying up slopes

How easy is it for kids to use and transport?

The saucer’s low weight and compact 22" diameter make it manageable for kids to carry up the hill after each run. Its rounded profile slides easily across snow when pulled, and the built-in handles provide natural gripping points for storage or transport. Assembly isn’t required — it’s ready to go straight from the garage or trunk.

• Lightweight design for kids to lift and carry
• Built-in handles act as carry grips and steering aids
• No assembly — use right away from storage
• Compact size fits in car trunks and closets

What should I consider before buying this sled?

Decide where you’ll use it most — steeper hills and packed runs deliver the best speed and excitement. If you need multi-rider capability, look for larger toboggans or tandem sleds, since this is a single-rider saucer. Always supervise younger children, use appropriate helmets, and check the hill for obstacles before sliding.

• Single rider design — one person per run
• Ideal for backyard hills, parks, and resort sled areas
• Not a substitute for protective gear or adult supervision
• Store indoors to prolong plastic life and color retention
