Giro Surface S Snowboard Ski Helmet (Matte Black, Medium) - Matte Black, Size Medium

The Giro Surface S is a hard-shell, half-shell snowboard and ski helmet in matte black that pairs solid impact protection with 22 ventilated openings and an adjustable In Form Fit System for a comfortable, secure medium fit.

The Surface S blends durable shell construction and active airflow to suit all-mountain days where both protection and ventilation matter. Designed as a half-shell, it keeps weight low and fit snug while delivering enough coverage for park, piste, and lift-line use. Lightweight, simple to adjust, and finished in understated matte black, this medium Giro helmet balances safety-focused features with everyday comfort.

How does the Surface S keep your head cool on long runs?

Giro built the Surface S with 22 Super Cool vents placed to encourage steady air movement over the head, and mesh covers to keep snow and debris out. Those vents work with the helmet’s internal channels to move warm air away and help regulate temperature during climbs or intense descents.

• 22 strategically located vents for continuous airflow
• Mesh coverings prevent snow and wind intrusion
• Internal vent channels to guide warm air out

What kind of protection does the hard shell offer?

The hard shell construction on the Surface S provides a robust outer layer that disperses impact forces, paired with an energy-absorbing liner inside. Its half-shell format focuses on key impact zones while keeping the helmet compact and lightweight for agile riders.

• Durable outer hard shell for impact dispersion
• Energy-absorbing interior lining for shock management
• Half-shell shape for lower weight and nimble movement

How will the In Form Fit System improve the fit?

The adjustable In Form Fit System lets you dial in a precise fit with a simple rear dial, reducing slippage and pressure points. Combined with the helmet’s medium sizing and ergonomic ear coverage, it keeps the helmet stable whether you’re charging rails or cruising groomers.

• Rear dial adjustment for micro-fit tuning
• Even pressure distribution for all-day comfort
• Secure hold to minimize helmet shift during activity

How does the Surface S compare for park days versus casual piste riding?

The Surface S is versatile: its sturdy hard shell and focused coverage suit park tricks and side hits, while the ventilation and lower profile make it comfortable for longer resort laps. It isn’t a full-face or heavy-mountain shell, so riders seeking maximum chin or extended rear coverage may prefer other models.

• Park-friendly durability for mild impacts and impacts to the shell
• Ventilation favors aerobic climbs and warm-weather days
• Lower-profile half-shell for light weight and good mobility

Who this helmet is for: The Giro Surface S in matte black, medium is tailored to riders who want dependable hard-shell protection with excellent ventilation and an easy-to-adjust fit. It’s a strong choice for snowboarders and skiers who favor a lightweight, low-profile helmet for park maneuvers, resort laps, and everyday use—especially those who value airflow and a secure, customizable fit without the bulk of full-coverage designs.
