Helikon-Tex Numbat Chest Pack chest rig 3L, Coyote Brown, Cordura 500D with DWR and MOLLE

The Helikon-Tex Numbat Chest Pack is a compact 3-liter chest rig designed to keep everyday carry and essentials on your chest for fast access without removing your backpack.

Built from durable Cordura 500D with a DWR finish and fitted with quality hardware, the Numbat Chest Pack offers a balanced mix of low-profile storage and rugged construction. It’s intended as an accessible front-mounted panel for hikers, urban commuters, operators and anyone who wants immediate reach to tools, maps, and small devices while on the move.

How does the Numbat Chest Pack keep frequently used items within reach?

The chest-mounted layout places essentials where you can grab them instantly with minimal movement. Pockets and internal organizers separate small tools and documents so you don’t have to dig through a single cavernous compartment.

• 3-liter main compartment with quick-access zip opening
• Internal organizer plus dedicated map sleeve for documents
• Front VersaStretch pocket for gloves, phone or compact optics
• Laser-cut MOLLE/PALS on the front and base for modular pouches

Is the pack rugged enough for outdoor use and heavy loads?

Yes — the Numbat uses Cordura 500D fabric with a durable water-repellent coating and reinforced components to resist abrasion and light rain. YKK zippers and Woojin buckles provide reliable hardware that stands up to repeated friction and load stress.

• Cordura 500D with DWR finish for abrasion and moisture resistance
• YKK zippers for smooth, dependable operation
• Woojin quick-release harness to shed or don the pack fast
• Reinforced stitching and load-bearing webbing for durability

What organization features help separate gear inside the chest rig?

The interior is arranged for tidy storage: a dedicated map sleeve keeps documents flat, a VersaStretch pocket secures flexible items, and a Versatile Insert System (VIS) lets you reconfigure internal dividers. These features reduce clutter and speed retrieval.

• Map sleeve protects charts and folded paper maps
• VersaStretch pocket accommodates irregularly shaped items
• VIS-compatible interior for customizable layout and pouches
• Multiple internal pockets prevent items from shifting

Can I use the Numbat Chest Pack for concealed carry or tactical tasks?

The pack is built with versatility in mind and is sized to suit everyday carry and discreet setups. Its shape and internal organization allow users to transport small defensive items or tools while keeping them accessible; however, local laws and safety best practices should always guide use.

• Compact dimensions fit under outer layers for discreet carry
• Quick-release harness offers rapid don/doff in dynamic situations
• MOLLE/PALS panels permit mounting of holsters or tool pouches
• 11 x 7.3 x 2.4 inches — compact footprint with useful capacity
