Kryptonite Evolution Mini U-lock 14mm Shackle, Black — Compact High-Security Disc Cylinder with 3 Keys

Kryptonite Evolution Mini is a compact, high-security U-lock with a 14mm hardened shackle and a reinforced disc cylinder designed to protect bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and motorcycles from cutting and leverage attacks.

This small but robust U-lock combines a thick tempered-steel shackle with a double-deadbolt mechanism and a disc-style cylinder engineered for resistance to drilling and pulling. Built-in conveniences such as a sliding dust cover, three stainless steel keys (one with a built-in light), and participation in the brand’s Key Safe Program make it a practical choice for riders who need serious theft resistance without sacrificing portability.

How does the Kryptonite Evolution Mini resist bolt cutters and pry attempts?

The lock uses a 14mm hardened MAX-Performance steel shackle that is engineered to withstand cutting and leverage tools. The double-deadbolt system secures both sides of the shackle to the crossbar, reducing the chance of prying or twisting the lock apart.

• 14mm hardened steel shackle for high shear strength
• Double-deadbolt engagement locks the shackle on both sides
• Robust crossbar construction disperses force from leverage attacks

What makes the disc-style cylinder more secure than a standard lock?

The lock’s disc-style cylinder is reinforced against common tampering methods like drilling and pulling. Internal components are designed to minimize exposed surfaces and include anti-drill plating, so attackers have fewer leverage points and tools are less effective.

• Reinforced anti-drill plate reduces vulnerability to drill bits
• Anti-pull features limit extraction of internal components
• Compact cylinder profile reduces potential attack angles

What practical features improve usability and longevity?

A sliding dust cover shields the keyway from dirt, moisture, and grit to keep the cylinder operating smoothly. The lock arrives with three stainless steel keys — one includes a high-intensity light for nighttime access — and the Key Safe Program allows for key replacement or duplication under controlled conditions.

• Sliding dust cover protects the keyway from contaminants
• Three corrosion-resistant stainless steel keys included
• One key fitted with a replaceable-battery light for dark conditions
• Key Safe Program for secure key replacement or spare retrieval

How portable is the Kryptonite Evolution Mini and what fits it best?

Designed as a mini U-lock, it favors riders who need a smaller, more portable security option without sacrificing protection. It’s compact enough to carry on a rack, in a bag, or clipped to many mounts, and it’s suitable for securing frames and rear wheels to solid anchors where space allows.

• Small footprint for easier transport and storage
• Suits frame and wheel locking to fixed posts or rails
• Compatible with many mounting brackets and bag storage

Who is this for: Cyclists, e-bike riders, scooter and powersports owners who want a balance of strong physical security and everyday practicality. If you need a compact lock that offers hardened-steel resistance, a reinforced cylinder, and convenient features like a dust cover and lighted key, the Kryptonite Evolution Mini is built for commuters, urban cyclists, and anyone who frequently leaves their ride in public spaces and wants a trusted, high-security option.
