Magpul MBUS Gen 2 Backup Sight Set — Flat Dark Earth Front & Rear, Folding Polymer Durability

Magpul MBUS Gen 2 is a lightweight, folding polymer front and rear backup sight set in Flat Dark Earth designed to provide robust, low-profile aiming support when your primary optic is unavailable.

The Magpul MBUS (Magpul Back-Up Sight) GEN 2 set delivers a dependable, cost-conscious solution for backup iron sights. Built from impact-resistant reinforced polymer and supplied with all mounting hardware, the set folds down out of the way during normal use and springs into a precise ready position in seconds. This Flat Dark Earth (FDE) colorway integrates with desert, tan, and multicam setups while keeping weight and snag risk to a minimum.

How does the MBUS Gen 2 perform as a backup sight?

The MBUS Gen 2 is designed to be a reliable secondary aiming system that stays out of the way until needed. Both sights are spring-loaded and flip up quickly for immediate use, and their construction tolerates field handling and routine knocks without compromising function.

• Spring-loaded folding mechanism for rapid deployment.
• Durable polymer resists impact and abrasion.
• Precise co-witness alignment when paired with compatible optics.

What mounting and compatibility options are included?

This set comes complete with the hardware required to secure both front and rear sights to standard Picatinny/ MIL-STD-1913 rails. The low-profile design minimizes interference with most optics, while same-plane apertures provide consistent sight picture when used together.

• All mounting screws and parts included for Picatinny rails.
• Same-plane flip apertures for predictable alignment.
• Low profile when stowed to clear optics and accessories.

How durable and lightweight is the MBUS Gen 2?

Magpul engineered these sights from reinforced, injection-molded polymer to balance strength and weight. The material choice reduces overall system mass and resists corrosion and environmental wear, making the sights suitable for sustained field use.

• Reinforced polymer construction for blunt-force resilience.
• Color-injected molding prevents finish wear or flaking.
• Lightweight design keeps weapon handling nimble.

How do I use and maintain these folding backup sights?

Deployment is immediate: flip either sight up until it clicks into position, index through the aperture, and make adjustments as needed using the rear sight’s windage features. Maintenance is minimal—periodic inspection, light cleaning, and ensuring fasteners remain tight keeps the set operating reliably.

• Flip-up deployment with audible position click.
• Simple windage adjustment on the rear aperture.
• Low maintenance: clean, inspect, and torque hardware occasionally.

Who is this for: The Magpul MBUS Sight Set GEN 2 in Flat Dark Earth suits shooters who need a rugged, low-cost backup aiming solution — from recreational carriers and range shooters to professionals equipping a duty firearm. It’s ideal for anyone wanting a lightweight, corrosion-resistant folding sight pair that tucks away under primary optics yet deploys instantly when called upon.
