Mares bungee replacement straps for open-heel scuba fins, Standard Black, elastic pair with extensions

Mares Bungee Straps are a pair of elastic replacement straps made to fit open-heel scuba fins, offering a secure, comfortable hold with two extension pieces for a tailored fit.

Upgrading to bungee-style straps changes how your fins feel and perform: the elastic material reduces heel slip, the ergonomic heel cover improves comfort during long swims, and the included extensions let you fine-tune fit for different wetsuit thicknesses or booties. These straps are a direct replacement for many Mares open-heel fins and are available in a range of sizes and colors to complement your gear.

How do these straps improve fin fit and comfort?

The elastic bungee design keeps your heel snug without over-tightening, distributing tension evenly around the foot. The ergonomic heel cover cushions the back of the foot and makes donning or removing fins easier, including when wearing thick gloves.

• Elastic cord reduces heel slippage while swimming.
• Ergonomic heel counter cushions contact points for longer comfort.
• Wide eyelet reduces pinching and simplifies adjustments.

Will they fit my existing Mares open-heel fins and boots?

These straps are designed as replacements for Mares open-heel models and are compatible with most Mares fin buckles and anchors. Two included extension pieces let you adapt the assembly to different boot or foot sizes so the straps will work with thin socks up to thick dive booties.

• Pair includes two extension pieces for added length options.
• Works with standard Mares open-heel attachment points.
• Adjustable for barefoot use or with booties of varying thickness.

How durable and easy to maintain are the bungee straps?

Constructed from resilient elastic materials and reinforced at key stress points, these straps hold up to repeated exposure to saltwater and regular use. Cleaning is simple: rinse with fresh water after each dive and avoid prolonged sun or harsh chemical exposure to extend life.

• Reinforced eyelet design reduces wear at adjustment points.
• Elastic core resists permanent stretching under normal conditions.
• Quick freshwater rinse after use maintains material integrity.

How do I choose the right size and color?

Select your strap size based on the Mares fin model and whether you will wear booties; regular size suits most adult feet with common boot thickness. Color options let you match or contrast your fins for a coordinated look that’s easy to spot on group dives.

• Regular size fits most adult open-heel fins when used with typical booties.
• Check your fin model compatibility notes for recommended sizes.
• Available color choices help with visual matching or personal preference.

Who is this for: These Mares Bungee Straps are ideal for recreational and technical divers who want a quick, comfortable upgrade from traditional straps, snorkelers seeking easier don/doff, and any diver who needs a reliable replacement part for Mares open-heel fins. They suit users who value a secure fit with minimal fuss, those who switch between barefoot and booted diving, and divers looking to refresh worn-out fin hardware without replacing their entire fins.
