MarineNow 18 lb River Anchor Black PVC Vinyl Coated — Corrosion-Resistant, Multi-Bottom Flukes

MarineNow's 18 lb black PVC vinyl-coated river anchor is a corrosion-resistant freshwater anchor built to grip mud, sand, and gravel for reliable holding on rivers and lakes.

Whether you're fishing from a pontoon, exploring shallow rivers in a kayak, or securing a small runabout, the MarineNow 18 lb anchor offers a balance of weight and compact design for dependable freshwater performance. The PVC vinyl coating protects boat finishes and reduces noise when setting and retrieving the anchor, while the multi-bottom fluke design improves bite in common lake and river substrates. This description outlines how the 18 lb model performs, what materials and features to expect, and how to pick the right size for your craft.

How does the PVC vinyl coating help my boat?

The black PVC vinyl layer covers the anchor's metal to reduce scratching and dampen clanking against hulls and decks. It also provides an extra barrier to moisture, slowing surface rust in freshwater conditions.

• Prevents direct metal-to-hull contact that can scuff gelcoat and paint.
• Quiets handling and retrieval for less noise when anchoring near other boats or wildlife.
• Offers added corrosion resistance in lakes and rivers where fresh water accelerates wear.

What holding conditions is this anchor best for?

The MarineNow river anchor is tuned for multi-bottom holding—mud, sand, and gravel—common in inland waterways. Its fluke geometry and weight provide a stable bite and steady holding power when paired with the right rode length.

• Works reliably in soft mud where flukes can dig in for grip.
• Performs well on sandy bottoms where the flukes can bury and resist drag.
• Handles mixed gravel or pebbles by wedging and angling securely into the substrate.

How do I choose the right size and set it up?

Match anchor weight to boat size and expected conditions: the 18 lb model suits boats up to about 22 ft for typical freshwater use. Use a scope of rode at least 5:1 (five feet of line for every foot of depth) for calm conditions and 7:1 or more in windier situations.

• 18 lb recommended for boats up to ~22 ft, including small pontoons and larger kayaks with accessories.
• Pair with appropriate chain and rope to add catenary and shock absorption.
• Deploy gently and allow the anchor to set by slowly reversing or letting the wind/current pull until it bites.

What makes this anchor easy to use and maintain?

The streamlined, tangle-minimizing profile speeds deployment and retrieval, while the vinyl coating reduces maintenance by limiting direct exposure to fresh water and grit. Simple rinsing and inspection are usually all that’s needed after each trip.

• Contemporary shape reduces snags on line and boat hardware during handling.
• Vinyl surface cleans easily—flush with fresh water after use to remove sediment.
• Inspect shank and attachment points for wear; replace rode or hardware if corrosion appears.

Who is this for? The MarineNow 18 lb black PVC vinyl-coated river anchor suits anglers, recreational boaters, and paddlers who need a dependable freshwater anchor that protects finishes and performs across common inland substrates. Choose this model if you operate a small to medium craft up to roughly 22 feet and want a low-noise, low-maintenance anchor with good multi-bottom holding. If you have a larger boat or expect extreme conditions, consider a heavier size in the MarineNow freshwater anchor range to match your vessel and anchoring needs.
