McDavid HEX Sternum Chest Protector Compression Shirt, Black, Small — Low-Profile Padded Heart Guard with Breathable Mesh

The McDavid HEX Sternum Shirt is a lightweight padded compression top that shields the sternum, heart, and chest from ball strikes and impact while keeping you cool and mobile.

Built for field and diamond athletes who want discreet protection without bulk, this black compression shirt uses McDavid's HEX padding to cover the most vulnerable chest area. The garment pairs a large, contoured sternum pad with breathable mesh panels and moisture-wicking fabric so you get protective coverage, ventilation, and a snug performance fit under jerseys or alone during drills.

How does the HEX padding protect my chest during play?

The HEX pad is engineered to disperse and absorb impact across a larger surface, reducing focused force to the sternum and heart area. Its low-profile design allows protection without restricting shoulder and torso movement.

• Large, contoured sternum pad covers chest and heart area.
• Hex-pattern foam disperses impact energy across the pad.
• Thin profile preserves range of motion for throwing and swinging.
• Designed to sit under equipment or worn solo for practice.

Will this shirt keep me cool and dry during intense activity?

Yes—the shirt combines mesh panels and hDc moisture-management fabric to promote airflow and wick sweat away from skin. That blend helps reduce cling and overheating during long innings, practices, or games.

• Mesh zones across shoulders, back, and sides enhance ventilation.
• hDc fabric moves moisture to the exterior for faster evaporation.
• Compression fit minimizes fabric movement and friction.

Can I use this shirt for multiple sports and positions?

The design is intentionally multi-sport: it suits baseball catchers, pitchers, batters, lacrosse goalies, paintball players, and football or rugby athletes seeking chest coverage. The slim, flexible padding adapts well beneath different protective layers or on its own.

• Works for baseball, lacrosse, paintball, football, rugby, and T-ball.
• Ideal for catchers, pitchers, batters, goalies, and contact drills.
• Compatible underneath jerseys and chest protectors.

How easy is the shirt to care for and maintain?

Maintenance is straightforward: toss it in the washing machine with regular laundry and air or tumble dry per care label. The materials are selected for durability to withstand repeated washing while keeping padding shape and fabric performance.

• Machine washable for simple, regular cleaning.
• Durable fabrics maintain fit and wicking over time.
• Fast re-wear readiness between practices and games.

Who is this for? The McDavid HEX Sternum Shirt fits athletes who want targeted chest protection without heavy armor—players who need to protect the sternum and heart area while retaining mobility and breathability. If you’re a baseball player, lacrosse goalie, paintball competitor, or contact-sport participant who prefers a slim, performance-oriented padded shirt under or instead of bulkier gear, this black compression top is designed for that balance of protection and comfort.
