The Morakniv Eldris is a compact, award-winning stainless-steel fixed-blade knife built for everyday carry and outdoor use, complete with a protective sheath and optional firestarter neck kit.

Compact yet capable, the Eldris packs Swedish craftsmanship into a pocket-sized tool designed for hikers, campers, anglers and everyday users who want a reliable cutting companion. Its high-quality Sandvik 12C27 stainless blade, ergonomic dual-polymer handle and clever sheath options make it a practical, low-maintenance choice for tasks from food prep to shelter work. Made in Sweden and recognized by the Scandinavian Outdoor Award, the Eldris balances size, toughness and safety in one small package.

How durable and sharp is the Eldris blade?

The Eldris blade is forged from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, chosen for consistent edge performance and corrosion resistance. It holds a keen edge for routine outdoor tasks and tolerates wet conditions better than many carbon steels.

• Blade steel: Swedish Sandvik 12C27 for strength and rust resistance
• Blade thickness: ~0.08 in (2 mm) for controlled slicing and carving
• Square-ground spine to aid in striking a firesteel
• Blade length: 2.2–2.3 in (56–59 mm) ideal for precise cutting

What safety and carry options does it include?

The Eldris is designed for safe everyday carry and can be worn around the neck or stowed in a pocket thanks to its compact size and reliable sheath. The plastic sheath locks the knife in place and is symmetric for both right- and left-handed users.

• Protective polymer sheath with secondary lock for secure retention
• Neck Kit option adds paracord lanyard and a sliding secondary lock for safe neck carry
• Sheath compatible with Morakniv belt loop accessories for alternate carry
• Lightweight: about 2.8 oz (80 g) for comfortable all-day carry

Can the Eldris help with firestarting and survival basics?

The Eldris’s square-ground spine functions as a striker when paired with a ferrocerium rod included in the Neck Kit, making it useful for emergency firestarting. While not a substitute for proper survival training, this setup gives you a compact way to produce sparks in the field.

• Square spine designed for striking a firesteel effectively
• Neck Kit includes a firesteel and paracord, ready for basic ignition tasks
• Small blade size allows controlled strikes without sacrificing safety

How does its handle feel and perform in different conditions?

The handle uses two overmolded polymer types and an ergonomic shape to deliver a secure, comfortable grip even during extended tasks. Texture and contour help maintain control in damp or cold conditions without adding unnecessary bulk.

• Dual-polymer construction for durability and grip
• Ergonomic profile fits a range of hand sizes comfortably
• Compact dimensions keep the balance toward precision work

Who is this for: The Morakniv Eldris is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts who want a trustworthy, compact fixed blade for camping, hiking, fishing, or everyday carry. Its small size and user-friendly sheath also make it a good choice for those new to fixed-blade knives, while its quality steel and design will satisfy experienced users looking for a lightweight secondary knife.
