MSR Universal 4-Person Tent Footprint Tarp, Large - 92 x 92 Inches, Durable Abrasion-Resistant Groundsheet

The MSR Universal 4-Person Tent Footprint Tarp (Large, 92 x 92 in) is a lightweight, durable groundsheet that protects tent floors from moisture, abrasion, and dirt while packing down small for easy transport.

When you want to extend the life of your tent and keep the interior cleaner and drier, a dedicated footprint is a simple, effective accessory. MSR’s Universal footprint is sized to fit four-person tents like the Habitude 4 and similar floorplans, and it slips into its included stuff sack for convenient storage. It’s built to resist wear and moisture without adding bulk to your pack.

How does this footprint protect my tent on rough campsites?

The footprint places a sacrificial barrier between your tent floor and abrasive ground, reducing punctures, scuffs, and seam wear. It also reduces direct contact with wet soil, keeping the tent’s factory waterproofing intact longer. Lightweight yet tough materials handle repeated use on rocks, sticks, and packed dirt.

• 92 x 92 inch coverage for four-person floorplans
• Durable fabric resists abrasion and punctures
• Reduces dirt and grime inside the tent for easier cleaning
• Works with tents with similar floor dimensions to the MSR Habitude 4

Will this footprint fit my tent and how does sizing work?

The Large footprint measures 92 x 92 inches and is designed for the MSR Habitude 4 and tents with similar floor layouts. MSR also offers a Regular option (87 x 87 in) for other four-person models; choosing the size closest to your tent floor ensures proper coverage without excess material under the rainfly. If in doubt, measure your tent floor dimensions before purchasing.

• Large: 92 x 92 inches — fits MSR Habitude 4 and similar tents
• Regular alternative: 87 x 87 inches for Zoic 4, Front Range Shelter, and similar
• Trim excess footprint material away if needed for tailor-made fit
• Packs compactly into the included stuff sack

How does it pack and weigh for backpacking or car camping?

The Large footprint packs down to roughly 11 x 10 x 1 inches and weighs about 16 ounces, making it a practical addition to car camping rigs and shorter backcountry trips where extra floor protection matters. Its compact size slips into a tent stuff sack or side pocket, and it’s light enough to carry when durability is prioritized over absolute ultralight weight.

• Packed dimensions: approximately 11 x 10 x 1 inches
• Weight: about 16 ounces for the Large size
• Includes a stuff sack for neat storage and transport
• Easy to stow inside the tent bag or on external pack straps

Is there any warranty or additional coverage with this footprint?

MSR backs the Universal 4-Person Footprint with a manufacturer’s 3-year limited warranty. That warranty covers defects in materials and construction under normal use; keep purchase information and inspect the footprint for damage after extended use. The footprint itself is a straightforward protective accessory rather than a load-bearing component of the tent system.

• Manufacturer’s 3-year limited warranty included
• Warranty addresses material and workmanship issues
• Regular inspection and cleaning will extend usable life
• Not intended as a standalone shelter—use under the tent floor

Who is this for: The MSR Universal 4-Person Tent Footprint (Large) is ideal for campers who use four-person tents like the Habitude 4 and want reliable floor protection without a lot of added weight or bulk. It’s suited to weekend car campers, family-camping trips, and multi-night backcountry users who value tent longevity and cleaner interiors. If you need a durable groundsheet that packs small and fits popular MSR floorplans, this footprint is a practical, low-complexity upgrade for your shelter system.
