O SHIELD Football Back Plate, Black with Pink, Youth (less than 180 pounds) Low-Profile Polycarbonate Protector

The O SHIELD Football Back Plate for Youth Shoulder Pads is a low-profile, polycarbonate-backed protector that extends below shoulder pads to shield the lower back while preserving mobility.

This back plate pairs with standard youth shoulder pads to give players added rear coverage without adding bulk. Built with a hard polycarbonate outer shell over ventilated PU foam, the piece mounts to shoulder pads using four pre-drilled holes and included hardware. A printed pink-ribbon graphic ensures the plate is visible under the pads and gives a distinctive look on game day.

How does this back plate attach to my existing shoulder pads?

Installation uses four through-holes that align with common youth shoulder pad designs. The package includes screws with pre-applied threadlocker and matching nuts for a secure fit that resists loosening through games and practices.

• Four mounting holes sized for standard youth pads.
• Screws come with factory-applied threadlocker to prevent back-out.
• Matching nuts included; basic hand tools required for assembly.
• Designed to fit typical youth pad configurations—confirm hole alignment before final tightening.

Will this add noticeable weight or reduce my range of motion?

The O SHIELD back plate is engineered to be lightweight and low-profile so it won’t create a bulky silhouette. Its compact shape and foam backing maintain natural shoulder and torso movement, allowing athletes to run, reach, and tackle freely.

• Hard outer shell for impact resistance with ventilated PU foam for comfort.
• Low-profile form keeps shoulders and arms unrestricted.
• Minimal added weight compared to traditional full plates.
• Contours downward to protect the lower back without hindering movement.

What protection and comfort features are built into the design?

The plate combines a rigid polycarbonate exterior with breathable foam to balance protection and wearer comfort. The foam layer cushions contact and helps wick airflow, while the outer graphic keeps the plate visible and team-ready.

• Polycarbonate outer shell for durable, impact-resistant coverage.
• Ventilated PU foam padding for shock absorption and breathability.
• Printed graphic aligned to show below shoulder pads on the field.
• Edges and contouring designed to reduce snag points and chafing.

How do I care for and maintain the back plate?

Cleaning and upkeep are straightforward: wipe the shell with mild soap and water after use and air-dry completely before storage. Periodically inspect the screws and nuts to confirm the threadlocker is holding and that hardware remains tight.

• Wipe with a soft cloth and mild detergent; avoid harsh chemicals.
• Allow to dry fully before stowing with your pads.
• Check mounting hardware for secure fit before each season or after heavy use.
• Replace damaged foam or cracked shell rather than continuing use.
