The Quicksilver 98432Q6 zinc trim tab anode plate protects the anti-ventilation plate of compatible Mercury and Mariner outboards by sacrificially corroding instead of your lower unit.
This extended trim tab anode is engineered to fit into the trim tab anode cavity of select Mercury and Mariner outboards, including Mercury 9.9–15hp (323 cc) 4‑stroke BigFoot models and certain Force and 2‑stroke engines. Made from zinc for reliable electrochemical protection in both freshwater and saltwater, the plate installs using your existing hardware and should be inspected periodically for corrosion. Always confirm fit and propeller clearance in your owner’s manual before installation.
The anode plate is a sacrificial metal piece that attaches to the anti‑ventilation (trim) plate and corrodes in place of the boat’s more expensive lower‑unit components. By taking the electrochemical damage, it reduces risk to the gearcase, trim tab, prop shaft and other underwater metals. Replacing a worn anode is far less costly than repairing or replacing corroded engine parts.
This anode plate fits select Mercury and Mariner outboards; notably Mercury 9.9–15hp (323 cc) 4‑stroke BigFoot models and Force 25hp outboards in specified serial ranges. Compatibility can vary by production year and component layout, so always cross‑check with your owner’s manual or parts diagram before purchase. If in doubt, compare part numbers or consult an authorized dealer.
Installation is straightforward because the plate uses the existing anode‑location and hardware; you typically remove the old anode and bolt the Quicksilver plate in its place. After installation confirm propeller and trim tab clearance to avoid interference. Periodic inspection is essential—replace the anode once corrosion becomes significant, so it continues to protect the engine effectively.
Quicksilver is the OEM supplier for Mercury Marine parts with decades of testing and fitment validation, giving a high level of confidence in dimensions and material performance. Their anodes are designed to meet marine industry standards and fit precisely where intended, reducing installation guesswork and improving protective coverage. Choosing OEM parts helps maintain warranty alignment and consistent performance under demanding marine conditions.
Who is this for: Boat owners, mechanics, and fleet managers who run Mercury, Mariner or compatible outboards and want a reliable, easy‑to‑install sacrificial anode for the trim/anti‑ventilation plate. Ideal for those prioritizing OEM fit, proven corrosion protection and straightforward maintenance in both freshwater and saltwater settings.
Q: Can I use this anode in both freshwater and saltwater?
A: Yes. The zinc trim tab anode is suitable for freshwater and saltwater applications.
Q: How often should I replace the trim tab anode?
A: Inspect regularly and replace when you see significant pitting, loss of shape, or heavy corrosion.
