Rawlings Little League Minors Baseballs, 12-Count, Level 5 (Ages 7–10) — Youth Practice Balls with Softer, Lighter Feel and Leather Cover

Rawlings LITTLE LEAGUE Minors Baseballs RIF5L are a 12-count set of softer, lighter baseballs made for youth practice and recreational play to help young players build confidence and skills.

These RIF 5 Little League baseballs from Rawlings are engineered for trainees and recreational leagues where reduced ball hardness and controlled flight are priorities. Meeting NOCSAE Level 1 approval, they balance a gentler impact with a durable leather cover and raised red stitching that improves grip and visibility. The 12-count packaging makes them convenient for team practices, batting drills, and skill-building sessions.

How do these baseballs help young players learn?

The softer, lighter core of the RIF5L minimizes the force of contact compared with standard baseballs, which can make catching, throwing, and hitting less intimidating for beginners. The leather exterior and raised stitches offer realistic feel and better hand feedback, supporting development of proper technique.

• Soft center core reduces sting on impact
• Raised red stitches improve finger placement and grip
• Leather cover gives a true ball texture for skill transfer
• Consistent weight and flight for reliable practice reps

Are these balls safe and approved for Little League use?

Yes. The RIF5L baseballs comply with NOCSAE Level 1 standards and are specifically designed for players ages 8 and under. They are intended for recreational and practice settings to help manage ball impact without changing basic handling or technique.

• NOCSAE Level 1 approval for reduced-impact play
• Recommended age range: 8 and younger
• Suitable for drills, batting practice, and recreational games
• Not a replacement for regulatory game balls in older divisions

What makes these Rawlings baseballs durable enough for repeated practice?

Rawlings pairs a soft core with a tough leather cover to maintain longevity while keeping impact lower. The construction protects the internal core and helps the ball retain shape and consistent performance through repeated catches, throws, and hits.

• Leather cover stands up to routine practice wear
• Stitched seams resist fraying and maintain grip
• Balanced build reduces misshapen balls over time
• Sold in a 12-count pack for multiple players and sessions

How should coaches and parents use these balls during training?

Incorporate RIF5L balls into early-skill sessions to build confidence in catching, pitching, and batting. They are ideal for teaching fundamentals before progressing to standard-weight baseballs, and their consistent behavior helps trainers assess technique without added discomfort concerns.

• Use for introductory catching and throwing drills
• Start batting practice with these before switching to regulation balls
• Keep a few in rotation to extend life across practices
• Pair with protective gear and supervision for best results
