Scotty 2202K braided downrigger line 400 Foot Spool, 250 lb test, low-stretch with terminal kit

Scotty's 2202K is a 400-foot, 250 lb test premium braided microfilament downrigger line sold with a terminal kit for reliable, low-stretch trolling performance.

Designed for anglers who demand consistent strength and corrosion resistance from their downrigger gear, this braided fiber line replaces traditional stainless cable with a lighter, low-stretch alternative. The braid resists kinks and fraying, reduces electrolysis around fittings, and ships with a Coastlock snap and soft-stop bumper for quick rigging and safer handling on deck.

How does this line improve durability compared with stainless steel cable?

The Scotty braided microfilament is engineered for long service life without the rust and sharp frays common to steel cable. Its construction resists kink formation and maintains tensile strength under repeated loading cycles, so fittings and spools stay cleaner and last longer.

• 250 lb test strength for heavy trolling loads
• Microfilament braid resists fray and kink
• Doesn't corrode like stainless, lowering electrolysis issues
• No crimping required — simplifies replacements

Will low-stretch braided line affect how my downrigger performs?

Low stretch means more precise depth control and quicker response when a fish strikes, translating to better lure behavior and improved hookup rates. The consistent diameter of the braid also spools evenly, reducing line memory and tangles that slow routine operation.

• Improved depth accuracy for repeatable presentations
• Less stretch for faster hookset transfer
• Even spooling reduces line twist and bird’s nests
• Available in 200, 300, and 400 foot lengths for different rigs

What’s included in the 2202K kit and how does it simplify rigging?

The kit pairs the 400-foot braid with a terminal fastening kit that includes a Coastlock snap and a soft stop bumper so you can attach weights or lures immediately. These accessories protect hardware and speed setup, letting you swap clips quickly without re-crimping or special tools.

• Coastlock snap for secure, quick connect/disconnect
• Soft stop bumper to cushion gear and reduce wear
• No crimping necessary — kit-ready right out of the box
• Custom-manufactured braid for consistent quality

How do I choose the right spool length for my fishing style?

Pick a length based on the depths you routinely fish and how many deployments you need between trips. The 400-foot spool fits deep-water trolling and charter-style use; 200 and 300-foot spools suit shallower reefs, lakes, and shorter runs where less line makes handling faster.

• 200 ft — shore, shallow lakes, quick setups
• 300 ft — moderate depths, multi-target days
• 400 ft — deep trolling, extended deployments, charters
• All sizes maintain the same 250 lb rating and low-stretch performance
