SOG Adventurer LB 3 in Lock-Back Folding Knife, Dusk Purple/Black, CRYO 5CR15MOV Steel Blade, GRN Handle

The SOG Adventurer LB is a compact, 3-inch lock‑back folding knife built for everyday carry and outdoor tasks, combining CRYO‑hardened 5CR15MOV stainless steel with a glass‑reinforced nylon handle for a lightweight, dependable tool.

Designed as a modern take on a classic lock‑back folder, the Adventurer LB keeps things simple: a practical drop‑point blade, a secure lock‑back mechanism, and a low‑carry reversible clip in a dusk purple and black finish. It’s sized to be pocketable yet substantial enough for campsite chores, slicing tasks, and general outdoor use. The CRYO treatment enhances edge retention while preserving the corrosion resistance of 5CR15MOV stainless steel, and the textured GRN handle balances grip and weight.

How durable is the blade for outdoor use?

The blade is made from CRYO‑treated 5CR15MOV stainless steel, offering a blend of corrosion resistance and moderate edge holding. It’s engineered to be easy to sharpen in the field while maintaining a reliable cutting edge for everyday outdoor tasks.

• Material: CRYO 5CR15MOV stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
• Finish: satin finish reduces glare and resists staining.
• Edge: straight edge with a practical profile for slicing.
• Blade shape: drop point for versatile tip strength and belly for cutting.

Is the lock mechanism safe and simple to use?

The lock‑back mechanism gives a positive, tactile lockup that prevents accidental closure during use while remaining easy to disengage when you want to fold the knife. Its time‑tested design is light and straightforward, making it a reliable choice for everyday carry and outdoor work.

• Lock type: classic lock‑back for secure blade retention.
• Operation: single‑handed opening and confident two‑handed closing.
• Reliability: simple mechanical design reduces failure points.
• Safety: solid lock up minimizes unintended folding.

How comfortable and practical is the handle and carry system?

The handle uses glass‑reinforced nylon (GRN), which keeps weight low while improving strength and grip in wet or dirty conditions. A reversible, deep‑carry pocket clip lets you mount the knife tip‑up on either side of the pocket for discreet, comfortable carry.

• Handle: textured GRN for secure grip and lightweight strength.
• Clip: ambidextrous deep‑carry clip for low‑profile pocket carry.
• Weight: approximately 2.1 ounces for easy daily carry.
• Size: 3.0" blade and 7.5" overall for a compact footprint.

What tasks is this knife best suited for?

The Adventurer LB is ideal for general cutting, food prep at camp, cordage work, and light utility chores where a reliable, simple folder is needed. It isn’t intended for heavy prying or batoning; instead, it excels at controlled cutting and everyday outdoor duties.

• Camping: food prep, rope trimming, light campsite tasks.
• Everyday carry: opening packages, light utility cuts.
• Hiking and travel: compact size meets functional performance.
• Field maintenance: easy to resharpen and maintain on the go.

Who is this for? The SOG Adventurer LB is aimed at hikers, campers, and anyone who wants a low‑weight, dependable folding knife for daily and outdoor use. It appeals to those who prefer a classic lock‑back design, need corrosion resistance for wet environments, and value a compact knife that’s easy to carry and maintain.
