Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Deluxe — Telescoping Bar Adapter, 35 lb Capacity, Vinyl-Coated Hangers

The Swagman 64005 Deluxe Bar Adapter is a telescoping bike frame adapter that converts seat-post-and-stem bikes for safe hanging or tray-style transport with up to a 35 lb load.

Whether you own a kids' bike, a women's or step-through frame, or any bicycle with a sloped top tube, a frame adapter bar lets you mount that bike on hanging-style or tray-style racks that expect a horizontal top tube. Swagman's Deluxe Bar Adapter installs quickly with a push-button quick release and uses vinyl-coated hangers to protect your bike's paint while securing the frame for travel.

How does the adapter convert non-traditional bike frames for roof or hitch racks?

The adapter creates a temporary horizontal mounting point by clamping to the seat post and stem post, forming a stable bar to hang or rest in rack hooks. This means bikes without a straight top tube can be carried like standard frames on many rack types.

• Attaches to seat post and handlebar stem post for a horizontal bar.
• Vinyl-coated hangers protect paint from metal contact.
• Compatible with hanging-style and tray-style racks.
• Push-button release for quick removal when you reach your destination.

What size bikes and loads will this bar adapter support?

Swagman's Deluxe Bar Adapter is built for smaller bicycles and most adult bikes that fall under the listed weight limit. The adapter's telescoping tube adjusts to fit a wide range of frame widths so you can use it for kids' bikes up to many full-size models, within the capacity limit.

• Maximum recommended load: 35 lbs (15.9 kg).
• Telescoping tube extends to fit a variety of tube spacing for common bikes.
• Secure clamping reduces lateral movement during transport.

How easy is it to install and remove the Deluxe Bar Adapter?

Installation is fast and user-friendly: a spring-loaded extension and push-button quick release let you set the length and lock it in place without tools. Removing the adapter is similarly straightforward, making it convenient for multi-bike trips or when switching between vehicles and storage.

• Spring-loaded tube extends and locks with a push button.
• Quick-release mechanism removes the bar from the bike in seconds.
• No special tools required for standard installation and removal.

Will this adapter protect my bike's finish while traveling?

Yes — the adapter uses vinyl-coated hangers where the bike contacts the bar, reducing the chance of scratches, dings, or paint scuffs common with bare metal interfaces. This protective coating helps preserve frame appearance through repeated use.

• Vinyl coating cushions contact points and prevents abrasion.
• Design distributes load across the bar to minimize stress on any single point.
• Works well with padded rack straps or additional protectors if desired.

Who is this for: The Swagman 64005 Deluxe Bar Adapter is ideal for cyclists who need a simple, portable solution to carry step-through, kids', or sloped-top-tube bikes on hanging or tray-style racks. It's a good fit for families, casual riders, and anyone who switches bikes between vehicles or needs a quick, damage-minimizing adapter for occasional touring and errands. Keep in mind the 35 lb weight limit when pairing the adapter with heavier adult bikes or e-bikes.
