The North Face Terra Lumbar Hiking Hip Pack, TNF Black/Asphalt Grey, 1L, Ripstop with DWR

The North Face Terra Lumbar Hiking Hip Pack is a low-profile 1‑liter hip pack built to keep essentials organized and dry on hikes, travel days, and urban outings.

This compact lumbar pack balances minimalist size with trail-ready details. Constructed from abrasion-resistant ripstop fabric with a non‑PFC durable water repellent finish, the pack sheds light moisture while protecting valuables. At just over four ounces and shaped to sit comfortably on the hips, it’s made to carry a phone, wallet, keys, a light shell, and small snacks without getting in the way of movement.

How much gear will this 1L hip pack actually hold?

Although modest in volume, the Terra Lumbar is optimized for essential items you need within arm’s reach. The main zippered compartment fits a phone, compact camera, or a small wallet while secondary pockets keep small items sorted.

• Main compartment sized for a smartphone, folded maps, or a compact sunscreen.
• Internal mesh pocket with key clip for quick access and anti-loss security.
• Exterior secure-zip pocket for cards, cash, or a small multi-tool.
• External bungee cord for stashing a lightweight rain jacket or hat.

Will it stay comfortable on long walks and active days?

The pack uses an adjustable waist strap designed to sit snugly without restricting motion, keeping weight centered on the hips rather than the shoulders. Its low profile and lightweight construction reduce bounce so you can move freely whether scrambling a short ridge or navigating crowded transit.

• Adjustable webbing waist strap for a personalized fit across sizes.
• Low center of gravity reduces sway during quick steps or climbs.
• Reflective webbing increases visibility during low-light outings.
• One‑size design for a broad range of adult wearers.

How weather-resistant and durable is the build?

The Terra Lumbar uses ripstop fabric and a non‑PFC durable water‑repellent finish to manage light rain and abrasion on trail surfaces. While not a waterproof dry bag, the pack’s materials and closures help protect contents from drizzle, grit, and the everyday knocks of outdoor use.

• Abrasion-resistant ripstop construction for longevity on rough terrain.
• Non‑PFC DWR treatment that sheds light moisture without harmful chemicals.
• Secure zippers to limit exposure to dust and light rain.
• External bungee keeps wet layers accessible without opening main compartment.

What sustainability credentials does this small pack carry?

This model qualifies for The North Face sustainability badge when it meets the minimum of 75% recycled, regenerative, or responsibly sourced materials by weight. The Terra Lumbar incorporates materials chosen to reduce environmental impact while maintaining technical performance.

• Constructed with materials selected to increase recycled content where possible.
• Designed to offer durable performance so the pack lasts longer, reducing replacement needs.
• Non‑PFC DWR avoids perfluorinated chemical treatments for a lower environmental footprint.

Who is this for? The Terra Lumbar is aimed at hikers, commuters, and travelers who prefer to travel light but stay organized. It fits anyone seeking a minimalist carry solution to hold daily essentials during short outdoor excursions, festival days, bike rides, or urban errands. If you want a streamlined pack that prioritizes low weight, secure storage, and trail‑oriented details without bulk, this lumbar pack is a practical choice.
