All-Star Catcher's Training Mitt Keyhole Pocket - Right Hand Throw, Black/Tan 33.5" Lightweight Practice Glove

The All-Star Keyhole Baseball Catcher's Training Mitt is a full-size, 33.5" practice glove engineered to teach pocket awareness and consistent pitch presentation for better receiving and framing.

Built by All-Star, a family-owned brand with over six decades in catching equipment, this mitt brings a game-like profile to training sessions. It combines a specialized keyhole pocket trap with a lightweight construction so catchers can repeat receiving and framing techniques safely and efficiently using training balls or soft foam. The mitt mirrors the look and movement of a game catcher’s glove while emphasizing the mechanical skills coaches want to develop.

How does this mitt help catchers improve framing and presentation?

The Keyhole design centers the ball in a defined pocket to promote consistent hand placement and smoother presentation to umpires. By reinforcing where the ball should sit and how the glove should close, it reduces guesswork during drills and helps build muscle memory for framing movements.

• Keyhole pocket guides ball placement for repeatable catches.
• Full-size catcher profile simulates real-game presentation.
• Encourages softer hands and controlled glove manipulation.

Can this mitt be used for high-repetition training safely?

Yes—the mitt’s lighter training build is intended for frequent repetitions without the same weight or break-in time of a game mitt. Trainers commonly pair it with lightweight foam or training baseballs so catchers can log many reps while minimizing strain.

• Lightweight construction supports fast drill pacing.
• Works well with foam balls for high-volume sessions.
• Maintains a realistic feel so skills transfer to game mitts.

What specific skills and drills is this mitt best for?

This mitt is tailored for receiving, framing, and pocket-awareness exercises. Coaches and players use it to isolate the receiving action, practice subtle wrist and hand adjustments, and convert borderline pitches into called strikes by improving glove control and presentation.

• Receiving drills to build soft hands and secure catches.
• Framing practice to refine tilt and presentation angles.
• Ball-transfer and quick-release drills for throw preparation.

Will training with this mitt translate to better game performance?

While no trainer can guarantee outcomes, practicing with a mitt that replicates game size and enforces proper pocket location increases the likelihood that catchers will repeat the same clean presentation under game conditions. Consistent practice builds the hand-eye coordination and timing that assist framing and receiving in live play.

• Game-size profile helps motor patterns transfer to regular mitts.
• Repetitive, focused practice increases confidence behind the plate.
• Useful for individual practice, bullpen work, and coach-led drills.

Who is this for: The All-Star Keyhole Catcher's Training Mitt is aimed at catchers across levels who want to strengthen receiving and framing mechanics—youth players learning fundamentals, high-school and travel catchers refining technique, and coaches seeking a reliable training tool. If you want a full-size mitt built specifically to teach pocket awareness and improve presentation without the bulk of a game glove, this model is designed for focused, repeatable practice.
