Anchor-Man's 8.5 lb galvanised fluke anchor kit is a ready-to-use anchoring package that includes rope, chain, shackles and a protective PVC bag designed for boats 15 to 22 ft.
This compact kit brings together the metalwork and the storage solution needed to anchor cleanly and reliably in sand or mud bottoms. Rather than selling just an anchor, Anchor-Man packages a matched length of rope and chain plus a heavy-duty bag that prevents rust stains and metal-to-metal corrosion inside anchor lockers. The set is engineered so the chain pulls the anchor shank flat and lets the flukes dig, while the bag keeps your gelcoat and fittings spotless during storage.
The fluke design grips well in soft bottom types and the 8.5 lb weight is sized to hold small keel or planing hulls in calm to moderate conditions. Performance depends on seabed, rode scope and wind or tide forces; use the included chain to help the anchor set quickly and reliably.
The PVC bag prevents the anchor from rubbing directly on locker surfaces and other metal fittings, stopping rust transfer and contact corrosion. Unlike anchors sold alone, this kit's bag keeps your gelcoat and locker finishes clean and separates galvanised steel from stainless or aluminium to reduce electrochemical damage.
Anchor-Man supplies the 8.5 lb galvanised fluke plus a length of rope, a short chain section, and the necessary shackles — everything needed to assemble a correct rode. The chain improves setting and reduces chafing at the bow; the shackles secure connections and the rope provides length to reach the bottom and set scope.
Attach the shackle from chain to shank, then fasten the rope to the chain. Stop the boat before dropping the anchor, let out an appropriate scope (5–7 ft of rode per foot of water), and reverse slowly until the flukes bite. After retrieval, rinse the anchor and bag it to protect your locker.
Who is this for: The Anchor-Man 8.5 lb fluke kit is aimed at owners of small boats, dinghies and runabouts 15–22 ft who want an all-in-one anchoring solution that protects their boat from rust and locker corrosion. It suits weekend sailors, day-trippers and anyone who prefers a ready-to-use package with chain lead and storage protection, rather than buying anchors and accessories separately.
Q: Is the 8.5 lb kit suitable for rocky bottoms?
A: Fluke anchors work best in sand and mud; on rocky or weed-choked bottoms holding is poorer. Consider a plow or grapnel for very rocky seabeds.
Q: Does the kit include everything to start anchoring?
A: Yes — the kit includes the 8.5 lb anchor, rope, chain, shackles and a PVC storage bag for immediate use.
