Bear Butt 11 x 9 ft Hammock Rain Fly, Green ultralight waterproof tarp for backpacking and camping

Bear Butt's 11 x 9 ft Hammock Rain Fly is an ultralight, waterproof tarp designed to keep single and double hammocks dry and sheltered while backpacking, camping, or lounging outdoors.

When you need quick, reliable overhead protection without extra bulk, this hammock rain fly offers a roomy footprint in a packable package. Made from waterproof top-stock polyester with reinforced attachment points, it balances low weight with durable weather resistance. Reflective guy lines and a simple setup mean you spend less time rigging shelter and more time enjoying the outdoors.

How easy is it to set up and take down?

Set up is straightforward and intentionally minimal: drape the fly over the hammock and secure its corners and ridgeline to the same trees or posts you used for the hammock. Tensioning is handled with integrated guy lines and adjustable cord, so you can tune coverage quickly.

• Simple drape-and-clip setup over your hammock
• Attach to same anchor points—no extra stakes required in many situations
• Adjustable tension lines for fast shaping and wind resistance

Will this tarp keep me dry without adding too much weight?

The Bear Butt tarp is built from waterproof polyester that sheds rain effectively while remaining lighter than many traditional tarps. At just over one pound, it’s small enough for multi-day backpacking yet large enough to cover double hammocks and some gear beside them.

• Ultralight design: slightly over one pound for easy carry
• Waterproof top-stock polyester provides reliable protection from precipitation
• Large 11 x 9 ft footprint covers hammock and nearby gear

How durable and versatile is this rain fly in different conditions?

Construction emphasizes longevity and multi-use performance: reinforced corners, strong tension lines, and materials chosen to resist tearing. Use it as a rain shelter, emergency bivy, sunshade, or impromptu ground tarp when needed.

• Reinforced attachment points lower tear risk under load
• Reflective tracers on guy lines improve visibility after dark
• Suitable for hammock, tent-overlap, or general shelter roles

How large is the coverage and what situations does it suit best?

The 11 x 9 ft dimensions provide broad overhead coverage that accommodates single and double hammocks without requiring a separate stand. This size is helpful when inclement weather threatens or when you want shade for day use.

• Generous 11 x 9 ft tarp area for wide shelter protection
• Works with most tree-anchored hammocks and many tent layouts
• No dedicated stand needed—uses existing hammock anchor points

Who this is for: campers, backpackers, and hammock enthusiasts looking for a lightweight yet substantial tarp will find this rain fly useful. It fits outdoor users who prioritize easy setup, packability, and dependable water resistance without sacrificing coverage. Whether you’re overnighting on a trail, setting up a daytime hangout, or need an emergency shelter option, the Bear Butt 11 x 9 ft rain fly offers practical protection in a compact form.
