Under Armour Gameday Armour Back Plate, Americana, Youth — Ventilated Low-Profile Football Back Protector

The Under Armour Gameday Armour Back Plate is a contoured, ventilated back protector that guards the lower back, kidneys, and spine while allowing a full range of motion on the field.

Designed for football players who need added rear protection without sacrificing mobility, this back plate pairs with shoulder pads using included hardware and fits both youth and adult sizes. The molded shape follows the natural curve of the back, while a padded foam interior cushions impacts and helps distribute force. Lightweight, breathable channels promote airflow so players stay cooler during practices and games. Whether you’re stepping up to varsity or equipping a youth roster, the Gameday back plate offers a balance of coverage and comfort.

How does this back plate protect without limiting movement?

The plate uses a contoured shell shaped to the spine and lower back, which keeps protective material where it’s needed while avoiding unnecessary bulk. The slim profile tucks under shoulder pads so you can bend, twist, and sprint with minimal interference.

• Curved outer shell aligns with spinal curvature for coverage and flexibility
• Padded foam interior absorbs and distributes impact forces
• Low-profile design sits comfortably beneath shoulder pads
• Available in youth and adult sizes for correct fit and mobility

What features keep players cool during long practices?

Strategic ventilation and lightweight materials reduce heat buildup behind the pads. Channels and perforations allow air to flow across the foam lining, improving comfort during repeated plays or extended sessions on hot days.

• Ventilated shell and foam improve airflow and reduce sweat accumulation
• Breathable interior materials wick moisture away from the skin
• Lightweight construction minimizes added weight behind the pads
• Design preserves protective coverage while encouraging cooling

How do I attach the back plate to my shoulder pads?

Hardware for connecting the back plate to standard shoulder pads is included, making installation straightforward for coaches or players. The attachment points are positioned to keep the plate stable through tackles and high-impact plays.

• Included mounting hardware fits most shoulder-pad systems
• Connection points are reinforced for stability during contact
• Installation keeps the plate centered over lower spine and kidneys
• Compatible with both youth and adult shoulder-pad setups

Which size should I pick and who benefits most from this back plate?

Choose youth sizes for younger players and adult sizes for high school and above; proper fit should allow full pad articulation without sliding. This back plate is aimed at players seeking additional rear protection—particularly linebackers, linemen, and any player who wants extra coverage behind standard shoulder pads.

• Youth sizing for growing athletes; adult sizing for older players
• Best for positions that experience frequent rear impacts
• Useful for teams outfitting players who need extra lower-back support
• Easy addition to existing shoulder-pad setups for enhanced protection

It’s practical for youth teams and individual players stepping into higher-intensity competition who want a durable, ventilated option to protect the lower back, kidneys, and spine while preserving natural motion.
