Great Call Athletics Snapdown Headgear for Youth & Adults, Black, Ultra-Soft One-Size Ear Guard

The Great Call Athletics Snapdown Headgear is an ultra-soft, adjustable ear guard that protects against cauliflower ear and delivers secure, breathable coverage for wrestling, BJJ, MMA and other grappling sports.

Built for training and competition, this one-size headgear blends soft neoprene comfort with a rigid internal insert to absorb contact without sacrificing mobility. It uses hook-and-loop straps to dial in a snug fit for youth and adult athletes, and its materials stand up to repeated hand-washing and air drying. Lightweight and low-profile, the design minimizes obstruction while keeping the ears shielded during takedowns, scrambles and clinches.

How does this headgear stay comfortable during long sessions?

The Snapdown Headgear pairs a soft outer neoprene layer with breathable construction so heat and sweat disperse more effectively than with rigid guards. Interior padding cushions pressure points while the shell keeps impact away from the ear. The result is stable protection that you can wear for full practices without constant adjustment.

• soft neoprene shell for skin-friendly contact
• breathable construction reduces trapped heat
• padded interior cushions ear and pressure zones

Will it fit both youth and adult athletes securely?

This ear guard uses adjustable hook-and-loop (velcro) straps across key points to customize fit from smaller youth heads to adult sizes. The one-size design concentrates on a broad range of head circumferences so teams can rely on a single SKU for multiple athletes. Fast adjustments let coaches or partners fine-tune tension between rounds.

• multiple velcro straps for tailored tension
• one-size configuration fits youth through adult
• quick on/off for efficient transitions

How effective is it at preventing cauliflower ear and everyday mat damage?

The headgear combines a soft outer layer with a firm internal insert to diffuse direct blows and friction that lead to ear deformities. While no product can guarantee medical outcomes, the guard reduces repeated blunt force and shear that commonly contributes to cauliflower ear. It’s specifically designed for wrestling, jiu jitsu, MMA and other close-contact sports where ear protection matters.

• rigid internal insert to disperse impact
• soft exterior minimizes abrasion from gi/training partners
• durable design made for frequent use on the mat

How do you care for and maintain this ear guard?

Materials are chosen for easy upkeep so athletes can keep the headgear fresh without special cleaning products. Hand wash with mild soap, rinse thoroughly, and hang to air dry. Regular inspection of the velcro straps and shell will extend service life and keep protection consistent.

• hand wash with mild detergent
• air dry—no dryer or high heat
• check velcro and shell for wear before sessions

Who is this for? The Great Call Athletics Snapdown Headgear is aimed at wrestlers, jiu jitsu and MMA athletes who want reliable ear protection that balances comfort, durability and adjustability. It’s suitable for youth programs, high school and collegiate competitors, as well as recreational grapplers who train regularly and seek a low-profile guard to protect against abrasion and impact during drills and live rolling.
