The Nautilus Lifeline Marine Rescue GPS nexGen is a compact, waterproof AIS/DSC emergency beacon that transmits your precise GPS location to nearby ships and your vessel with a single-button operation.
Smaller than the original model, the nexGen combines GPS accuracy, VHF digital signaling, and AIS/DSC alerts in a pocketable unit designed for boating emergencies and man-overboard scenarios. It floats, is depth-rated and IP68 watertight with the cap open, and uses VHF radio waves to send distress and position advisories to other vessels and your own radio system. With a simple latch-and-press workflow and a five-year service interval, it’s built for minimal upkeep and rapid use when every second matters.
Activation is intentionally straightforward so anyone can deploy it under stress. Open the latch, power the unit on, remove the red distress cap, and press the red distress button—the device then broadcasts your GPS position and a man-overboard alert.
The nexGen uses VHF digital signaling to broadcast two principal message types: a Distress Alert for emergencies and a Position Advisory for non-emergency situations. AIS-equipped ships and vessels with VHF DSC radios in range will receive the alerts, improving the odds of rapid responder awareness.
Designed for open-water conditions, the nexGen floats and is waterproof under all sea states when properly maintained. It’s depth-rated to 425 feet (130 meters) with the outer lid closed and meets IP68 watertight performance even with the cap open, provided the O-ring is kept clean.
The built-in GPS provides highly accurate positions—approximately 1 meter—so rescuers get precise coordinates. The unit is designed for low maintenance with a recommended five-year interval between major service actions, allowing you to install and largely forget it until needed.
Who is this for: the Nautilus Lifeline Marine Rescue GPS nexGen is aimed at recreational boaters, professional mariners, and anyone who spends time on open water and wants a compact, high-visibility emergency locator. It’s especially useful for solo sailors, anglers, dive leaders, and crew members who need a low-maintenance, reliable device that communicates both AIS and DSC alerts to nearby vessels and their own ship radio.
Q: Can the nexGen alert my own boat directly?
A: Yes. The unit sends DSC alerts directly to your vessel’s VHF radio so your crew receives immediate notification.
Q: How deep and waterproof is the device?
A: It floats, is IP68 watertight with the cap open, and is depth-rated to 425 feet (130 meters) with the lid closed.
