Patelai 2-Pack 8" Kayak Deck Hatch Plates with Waterproof PVC Storage Bags — Black, Low-Profile ABS Rim

Patelai 2-pack 8" black deck hatch kit is a pair of compact, waterproof kayak hatch covers with integrated storage bags built to protect hatch openings and keep small gear dry and organized.

These lightweight deck plates combine an ABS rim with a PVC storage pouch to convert standard 8" hatch openings into usable, weather-resistant pockets. Designed for fishing, recreational paddling, and general boat rigging, the kit includes two identical units and installs quickly without complex tools. The slim profile keeps deck clutter low while the waterproof bag protects valuables from spray and light rain.

How do these hatch plates help me keep my kayak organized?

The Patelai hatch plates add an instant storage pocket right over existing hatch openings so you can store tackle, phones in a dry sleeve, snacks, or small tools within reach. They reduce the need to open larger hatches mid-trip and keep commonly used items accessible.

• Two 8" inner-diameter pockets for separated storage
• External placement keeps frequently used items handy
• Waterproof PVC pouch protects contents from spray
• Low-profile ABS rim minimizes deck obstruction

Is installation difficult and will it fit my kayak?

Installation is fast and straightforward: center the hatch plate over the hatch opening, secure the rim, and attach the pouch. The specified outer diameter and inner usable opening are sized to suit common 8" hatch rings, but measure your hatch to confirm fit before installation.

• Outer diameter approximately 10.2 inches (26 cm)
• Inner usable opening approximately 8 inches (20 cm)
• Tool-free placement for quick on-water setup
• Removable when you prefer the original hatch access

What materials and weather protection do these hatch bags provide?

The kit uses ABS for the rigid deck plate and PVC for the waterproof storage bag, balancing durability with light weight. The materials resist fading, cracking, and short-term exposure to spray, making them suitable for everyday use on lakes, rivers, and coastal waters.

• ABS rim: impact-resistant and stable on the deck
• PVC bag: water-resistant barrier for small gear
• UV-resistant finish reduces sun-related wear
• Stitched and sealed seams for splash protection

How will these hatch plates affect my kayak’s safety and hatch access?

These plates are designed to preserve primary hatch function while providing external storage. They don’t replace watertight bulkhead hatches but offer a practical way to stow items you want quickly available without compromising the kayak’s main sealed compartments.

• Non-permanent installation keeps original hatch usable
• Does not alter hull integrity or factory drainage
• Reduces the need to repeatedly open main hatches on the water
• Good for gear you need to reach without standing or exiting the boat

Who is this for? Paddlers who want convenient, weather-aware storage on the deck will find this Patelai 2-pack useful—especially kayak anglers, weekend recreational paddlers, and boat owners who value quick-access pockets for tools, tackle, electronics in sleeves, and small accessories. If you need compact, removable storage that keeps essentials dry and close at hand, this kit is a practical upgrade.
