PORTEC Youth Baseball Chest Protector Padded Compression Shirt, White, Size Large — EVA Foam Heart & Sternum Guard, Breathable

PORTEC's Youth Baseball Chest Protector is a slim padded compression shirt that places EVA shock-absorbing foam over the heart, sternum and ribs while keeping full athletic mobility.

This protective compression shirt combines impact-damping foam with breathable stretch fabric to protect young athletes in baseball, softball, football, rugby and lacrosse. It fits like a second skin so pads stay positioned over vital zones, wicks moisture in hot conditions, and is machine washable for easy care through seasons of play.

How does this chest protector absorb impacts without feeling bulky?

The PORTEC chest protector uses professional-grade EVA foam shaped to cover the sternum, heart and rib cage, then integrates the pads into a slim compression shirt so the protective material lies flat against the body. Because the foam is engineered for blunt-force energy dispersion, it reduces transmitted shock while remaining thin enough for natural movement.

• EVA foam designed for energy dissipation
• Padded zones strategically placed over heart, sternum, ribs
• Low-profile pad thickness for a non-bulky feel
• Compression fabric keeps pads anchored during activity

Will my child still be able to swing, throw, and run freely?

Yes—this shirt is cut from 4-way stretch nylon/spandex fabric so the pads move with the athlete instead of shifting or restricting range of motion. The tailored compression fit reduces slippage, letting kids pitch, bat, tackle or dive with the same freedom as a regular athletic top.

• Ergonomic second-skin fit for unrestricted movement
• Elastic fibers permit full shoulder rotation and torso flex
• Pads remain fixed during dynamic plays
• Available sizing keyed to chest measurement for secure placement

How does this shirt manage heat and sweat during long games?

The fabric blend is 88% Nylon and 12% Spandex with targeted mesh panels on the back and sides to increase airflow. Moisture-wicking properties draw sweat away from the skin to reduce chafing and help players stay focused in warm conditions.

• Breathable mesh panels for ventilation
• Moisture-wicking nylon blend to keep skin drier
• Quick-drying construction for rapid turnaround between games
• Flat seams reduce irritation under equipment

How should I choose the right size and care for the shirt?

Choose size by precise chest measurement: Small 25–26.5", Medium 26.5–29.5", Large 29.5–33"—a snug fit ensures the foam pads stay aligned over the vital areas. For care, machine wash cold and tumble dry low; the foam retains shape and performance through standard laundering.

• Measure chest circumference for correct fit
• Snug compression fit keeps protection in place
• Machine wash cold, tumble dry low for durability
• Replacement guarantee covers wear-related issues

Who this is for: families and coaches seeking a lightweight, low-profile chest guard for youth players who need trusted protection without the weight or restriction of traditional shell-style gear. It's suited for multi-sport youth athletes—baseball and softball catchers and hitters, youth football players, rugby and lacrosse participants—anywhere a compact sternum and heart protector that breathes and moves with the player is preferred.
