Rawlings Youth Catcher's Mitt 33-inch Right-Hand Throw Black/Gray — Lightweight Game-Ready Leather

The Rawlings Select Series 33" Youth Catcher's Mitt is a lightweight, game-ready glove built to help young catchers receive, block, and control the ball with confidence right away.

Designed specifically for developing players, this 33-inch catcher's mitt pairs a manageable weight and youth-focused fit with durable leather construction. It aims to shorten break-in time so players can use it in practices and games without waiting weeks for it to become functional. The mitt's deep pocket and adjustable wrist deliver a secure feel, while the classic black/gray finish keeps the look clean and team-friendly.

How does this mitt make catching easier for youth players?

The Select Series focuses on ease of use: a lighter build helps young hands close and control the mitt faster, and a balanced 33" pattern provides a large, consistent target. The deep pocket improves ball retention so fewer plays are affected by drops during transfers.

• Lightweight shell that reduces hand fatigue during long innings.
• 33" catcher pattern for an approachable pocket size and target area.
• Deep pocket designed to secure pitches and foul tips.
• Adjustable wrist for a snug, stable fit while receiving and throwing.

Will this glove be durable enough for regular youth play?

Yes — Rawlings constructs the Select Series mitt with a durable leather shell that holds shape through repeated practice and games. The materials are chosen to withstand daily use while still allowing a relatively quick break-in compared with stiffer, higher-end models.

• Sturdy leather shell resists wear from frequent catching and blocking.
• Reinforced stitching along high-stress seams for longer life.
• Game-ready feel out of the box, minimizing required break-in care.
• Classic color that shows less visible wear over a season.

How should a parent or coach size and fit this mitt for a young catcher?

The 33" pattern is targeted at most youth catchers transitioning into the position. Look for a secure yet comfortable fit: the wrist should be adjustable so the player can lock the mitt in place without pinching. Proper fit improves transfer speed and reduces fumbling.

• Measure hand and forearm to ensure the wrist can be tightened comfortably.
• Confirm the player can close the mitt with reasonable effort for quicker transfers.
• Test receiving different pitch locations to verify pocket control and visibility.
• Choose 33" for common youth leagues; smaller hands may still handle it due to its lightweight design.

What on-field roles and drills is this mitt best suited for?

This mitt is geared toward everyday catching duties: receiving pitches, blocking in the dirt, handling foul tips, and quick exchanges for throws. Its blend of control and durability makes it useful in practices, bullpen sessions and league play as the player refines technique.

• Receiving fastballs and off-speed pitches with reliable ball retention.
• Blocking drills where a deep pocket reduces popped balls.
• Transfer and throwing drills to build quicker exchanges.
• Game use for recreational, travel, and competitive youth leagues.
