USGI Industries Tri-Fold Military E-Tool Folding Serrated Shovel Shovel, Black, 6.25-inch Blade, Aluminum Locking Collar

The USGI Industries Tri-Fold Military E-Tool is a compact, folding tactical shovel with a serrated steel blade and locking collar, made for digging, cutting roots, and compact outdoor tasks.

This compact tri-fold entrenching tool brings a military-style, multi-function shovel into a packable form. Built from heavy steel with an anti-reflective black finish and an aluminum locking collar, it folds to just over 9 inches for storage and extends to 23.25 inches for digging and trenching. It’s designed to work in tough soils, saw through roots with a serrated edge, and convert to a hoe by locking the blade at 90 degrees—useful for camping, overlanding, vehicle emergency kits, and general outdoor maintenance.

How tough is the blade and what can it handle?

The 6.25-inch steel blade is sized and shaped to move hard-packed dirt, gravel, clay, and moderate roots. Its serrated edge adds cutting ability that a plain shovel lacks, making it a practical tool when clearing brush or digging through root systems.

• 6.25 in-wide heavy steel blade with black anti-reflective finish
• Serrated edge for sawing roots and brush
• Designed to penetrate compacted soils and move gravel

How does the folding and locking system work for field use?

The e-tool folds in a classic tri-fold configuration and uses an aluminum twist collar to lock the blade in place. Twist the collar tight to secure the blade either in a straight shovel position for digging or at 90 degrees to convert it into a hoe for trenching and leveling.

• Aluminum locking collar secures blade position quickly
• Locks straight for full digging leverage or 90° for hoe use
• Easy to loosen and fold back down for compact storage

How portable is it for backpacks, vehicles, and kits?

When folded the tool measures 9.25 inches and weighs under 2.5 pounds, small enough to fit in a backpack, under a truck seat, or in an emergency kit without adding bulk. Its compact size makes it a go-to option for those who need utility without carrying a full-length shovel.

• Folds from 23.25 in open to 9.25 in closed
• Weighs under 2.5 lb for easy transport
• Packs into vehicle kits, backpacks, and storage compartments

What tasks is this e-tool best suited for?

The design prioritizes versatility—digging fire pits, clearing snow and mud from around tires, trenching around tents, and sawing small roots are all appropriate uses. It’s not a full-size earthmoving shovel, but its combination of blade width, serration, and locking positions covers a wide range of common outdoor chores.

• Digging small fire pits, latrines, and drainage trenches
• Breaking up packed ground and leveling campsites
• Clearing snow/mud and sawing through minor roots
