BLACK DIAMOND Recon X Avalanche Transceiver Beacon — Bluetooth, DSP Multi-burial Accuracy

Built for backcountry skiers, splitboarders, guides, and rescue teams, the Recon X emphasizes speed, accuracy, and durability. Its refined signal handling and user interface help you locate multiple buried transmitters more effectively, while rugged construction and weather-resistant design keep the unit working in cold, demanding environments. Bluetooth enables firmware updates and companion-app pairing for straightforward device management.

How does the Recon X improve search accuracy in real avalanche conditions?

The Recon X uses powerful digital signal processing to filter noise and clarify incoming beacon data, which sharpens distance and direction estimates. That technology helps reduce false leads and shortens search time when signals overlap or terrain creates reflections.

• Advanced DSP narrows signal interpretation in cluttered environments
• Precise distance readouts speed up fine-search stages
• Clear audio and visual cues guide search lanes and convergence points

Can the Beacon handle multiple burial scenarios reliably?

Yes—the Recon X is engineered to detect and process several concurrent transmitters, presenting each signal distinctly so rescuers can prioritize the nearest or strongest targets. This capability supports coordinated team searches and helps reduce time-to-contact.

• Simultaneous-signal processing separates overlapping frequencies
• Signal ranking displays nearest-to-furthest beacons
• Optimized algorithms maintain performance as more signals enter the search field

What user feedback and controls aid quick decision-making under stress?

The device pairs a straightforward visual display with audible tones that change as you close in on a signal, minimizing guesswork when time is critical. Intuitive controls and a logical search workflow let users switch modes or mark signals without fumbling in gloves or low-light conditions.

• High-contrast screen shows direction and distance at a glance
• Tonal progression and beeps reinforce visual cues during movement
• Ergonomic buttons and a simple menu keep operations fast and repeatable

How durable and weather-ready is the Recon X for backcountry use?

Constructed with a rugged housing and components rated for cold weather, the Recon X resists moisture, impact, and temperature extremes commonly encountered in avalanche terrain. It’s designed to remain operational through long outings and rough handling.

• Robust exterior tolerates drops and abrasion
• Sealed construction reduces snow and moisture intrusion
• Reliable battery performance maintained in low temperatures

Who is this for: The Black Diamond Recon X Beacon suits advanced backcountry travelers, professional guides, and rescue personnel who need fast, dependable locating performance in complex search scenarios. If you prioritize multi-burial recognition, clear feedback for rapid decisions, and a weather-resistant tool that stays reliable in the field, the Recon X is engineered for that role.
