Divergent Discs Disc Golf 5-Disc Starter Set - Beginner Kit with Putter, Midrange & Distance Drivers

The Divergent Discs 5-Disc Beginner Disc Golf Starter Set is a balanced starter kit that includes a putter, midrange, fairway driver, two distance drivers and a mini disc to help new players learn consistent throws and shot selection.

This five-disc collection from Divergent Discs is built to accelerate learning for newcomers to disc golf while remaining useful for casual rounds. Each disc is chosen for predictable flight characteristics and approachable handling—grippy MaxValue plastic on several molds gives comfortable release control. The set covers short-range accuracy, controlled midrange shots, straight fairway lines, and two distance options with different understability so slower arms can still gain distance.

Which disc should I use for putting and short approaches?

Use the NUNO putter whenever you are aiming at the basket or executing a short, precise approach. Its semi-deep rim and beadless profile promote a consistent release and a comfortable grip for repeated practice sessions.

• Reliable beadless rim for straight releases
• MaxValue plastic provides tacky grip
• Good for both short putts and controlled approach throws

How do I pick the right midrange and fairway driver from this set?

The Kapre midrange offers glide with minimal lateral drift, making it ideal for controlled fairway lines and tunnel shots. The Kraken fairway driver favors accurate, predictable flights without excessive fade, so it’s useful for aiming at tighter corridors and landing zones.

• Kapre: straight-flying midrange for accuracy and glide
• Kraken: precision fairway driver with modest fade
• Both are designed for easy-to-control releases for newer players

What are the differences between the two distance drivers included?

This set includes two distance drivers tuned for slower arms and controlled distance. The Tiyanak is highly understable and helps players who struggle to reach long distance by turning more in flight before minimal fade, while the Basilisk offers extra glide with a gentler, late fade for added carry without needing high speed.

• Tiyanak: very understable, assists with distance for slower throws
• Basilisk: domed profile, excellent glide, subtle end-of-flight fade
• Both help new players add reliable feet without overworking form

How does the MaxValue plastic affect performance and care?

MaxValue is an entry-level plastic blend that prioritizes grip and affordability. It feels tacky in the hand for repeatable releases but will show wear and break-in sooner than premium plastics; that break-in can improve feel for practice discs but may change flight subtly over time.

• Comfortable tack for consistent grip during learning
• Economical choice for practice and loaner discs
• Wears in faster—expect gradual flight changes with heavy use

Who is this for: This Divergent Discs starter set is aimed at beginners, junior players, and casual rounders looking for a cost-effective package that covers all core shot types. Coaches and clubs can also use the set as loaner gear for clinics and practice because the discs offer forgiving flight paths and a grippy plastic that helps new throwers develop reliable technique.
