Giro Surface S Ski Helmet - Size Medium

The Giro Surface S is a hard-shell, half-shell ski and snowboard helmet that combines durable impact protection with ventilation and an adjustable fit for men, women and youth.

Built to handle what you demand on piste or in the park, the Surface S blends a tough outer shell with Giro’s In Form fit system and 18 vents with mesh covers to keep airflow moving while blocking debris. Its half-shell construction makes it lighter and lower-profile than full-coverage helmets, and the neutral Mate Tank finish pairs easily with most goggles and outerwear. This description explains how the Surface S performs, who it suits, and the concrete features you’ll notice every time you strap it on.

What protection and construction does the Surface S offer?

The Surface S uses a hard shell design to provide durable impact resistance across the helmet’s exterior, with internal crushable liner material to manage energy in a fall. The half-shell form keeps weight down and maintains a sleek silhouette under helmets straps and goggles.

• Hard shell outer layer for strong abrasion resistance and impact distribution
• Half-shell profile for reduced bulk and lighter overall weight
• Internal EPS liner engineered to absorb energy from impacts
• Compatible with standard goggle straps and helmet accessories

How does ventilation work on colder and warmer days?

Giro outfitted the Surface S with 18 vents that move air across the head to reduce overheating on climbs or sunny days while still providing warmth when temperatures drop. Mesh covers over the vent openings block snow and debris without stopping airflow.

• 18 strategically placed vents for consistent airflow
• Mesh covers prevent snow ingestion and keep vents clear
• Vent placement balances cooling with coverage for ears and temples
• Helps reduce fogging in goggles by moving warm air away

How does the fit system improve comfort and stability?

The In Form Fit System allows quick, micro-adjustable sizing so the helmet sits securely and comfortably for long days on the mountain. The easy-turn dial can be adjusted while wearing gloves, keeping the helmet centered without pressure points.

• In Form dial for fine-tuning fit across a range of head sizes
• Padded interior for comfort and reduced slippage during movement
• Stable hold that keeps the helmet aligned with goggles and straps
• Works for men, women and youth sizes with a consistent fit profile

What practical features make the Surface S easy to use on the mountain?

Beyond protection and ventilation, the Surface S prioritizes convenience through a minimalist, utility-driven design. The half-shell approach and neutral Mate Tank color make it versatile across seasons and styles.

• Low-profile shape fits comfortably with goggles and hoods
• Durable finish resists scratches and maintains appearance
• Lightweight for reduced neck fatigue during all-day riding
• Simple strap and buckle system for quick on/off

Who is this for? The Giro Surface S is aimed at recreational skiers, park riders and families who want a dependable, versatile helmet with easy adjustability and good ventilation. It’s a solid choice for mixed conditions—sunny groomers, spring slush, or windy chairlifts—offering protection and comfort without the extra bulk of full-coverage models. Choose the Mate Tank medium if your head measurement corresponds to Giro’s medium sizing and you want a neutral color that pairs with most outerwear.
