Canterbury Unisex Raze Rugby Headguard, Black, Size Large — Full Coverage Scrum Cap with 360° EVA Padding

The Canterbury Raze rugby headguard is a full-coverage, impact-absorbing scrum cap with breathable ventilation and a soft breakaway chin strap for on-field comfort and safety.

Built for players who need dependable padding without sacrificing ventilation or hearing comfort, the Raze blends a flexible polyester-spandex shell with plush Lycra lining and EVA foam to manage contact across the entire head. Its updated 360-degree padding profile disperses forces from tackles and rucks while the release-style chin strap reduces strain in extreme impacts. Designed to meet World Rugby specifications, the Raze is available in adult and youth sizes so teams and clubs can outfit multiple age groups.

How does the Raze headguard protect during contact?

The Raze uses shock-absorbing EVA foam that cushions blows across the skull and temples while remaining lightweight. Padding is arranged around the head to reduce focal pressure and the chin strap is engineered to release under very high load to lower strain on the jaw and neck.

• 360-degree EVA foam padding for distributed impact absorption
• Soft-edged chin strap designed to break under extreme pressure
• Conforms to World Rugby specification for compliant on-field use

Will it stay comfortable and quiet during play?

Comfort-focused materials keep the Raze unobtrusive during long sessions. The plush Lycra inner lining prevents rough contact with the ears and reduces noise that can distract players, while the outer stretch fabric allows a snug, flexible fit.

• Plush Lycra lining that minimizes ear friction and noise
• 82% polyester and 18% spandex shell for a stretchy but secure fit
• Low-profile design to avoid rubbing with collars or scrum caps

How does ventilation and moisture management work?

Strategically placed holes in the headguard promote airflow to help heat escape during high-intensity phases. The EVA padding is non-absorbent so it doesn’t retain sweat, helping the cap stay lighter and drier through games and training.

• Designed ventilation holes to improve breathability
• EVA foam that resists sweat absorption for consistent weight and feel
• Breathable shell fabric supports cooling during long sessions

How do I choose the right size and care for it?

Select a size using head circumference measurements and confirm a snug but comfortable fit; the flexible materials adapt to different head shapes. For longevity, rinse after use, air dry away from direct heat, and avoid machine washing which can damage foam and straps.

• Available in adult and youth sizes — measure head circumference for best fit
• Hand rinse and air dry to protect foam and Lycra lining
• Inspect the release chin strap regularly for wear and replace if compromised

Who is this for: The Canterbury Raze headguard is designed for rugby players—youth or adult—who want full-coverage padding, breathable performance, and a soft, safety-release chin strap. It suits forwards and backs seeking durable protection that complies with World Rugby standards without compromising hearing comfort or moisture control.
