Giro Surface S Ski Helmet - Matte Black, Size Large

The Giro Surface S is a hard-shell, half-shell ski and snowboard helmet with 19 vents and an adjustable In Form fit system for secure, breathable protection on the mountain.

Built for everyday resort riding, the Surface S combines a tough outer shell with manageably light construction, a customizable fit and active airflow. Its matte-black finish and streamlined silhouette make it a versatile choice for men, women and youth who want reliable head coverage without extra bulk. The helmet balances safety-oriented features and comfortable wear so you can focus on turns, park laps or family runs.

How does the Surface S keep you cool while skiing or snowboarding?

The Surface S uses 19 Super Cool vents positioned for steady airflow and bundled mesh covers to keep out snow and debris. Vents channel moving air across the head to reduce overheating during high-effort climbs or springtime runs. Mesh covers maintain ventilation without letting cold snow enter the shell.

• 19 Super Cool vents for continuous airflow
• Mesh vent covers to block snow and debris
• Strategic vent placement to optimize cooling while moving

What kind of fit and retention does the In Form Fit System provide?

The In Form Fit System offers micro-adjustability to dial the helmet tightness quickly and securely. Turning the rear adjustment wheel customizes the circumference so the shell sits evenly and resists shifting during activity. This system simplifies one-handed changes while wearing gloves or mittens.

• Micro-adjustable rear dial for precise sizing
• Even pressure distribution reduces hotspots
• Tool-free changes for on-slope convenience

What materials and construction are used in this helmet?

The Surface S uses a hard shell construction built around a half-shell profile that protects key impact zones while minimizing added weight. The robust outer layer resists scrapes and chips, and the internal liner cushions without excessive bulk. The half-shell design preserves hearing and compatibility with goggles while maintaining a low center of gravity.

• Durable hard shell for surface resistance and longevity
• Half-shell form reduces mass and improves peripheral awareness
• Comfort liner engineered for impact cushioning and fit

How does the Surface S handle accessories and everyday on-hill use?

Designed for practical mountain use, the helmet pairs well with goggles, ear pads and a range of outerwear. The profile accommodates most goggle strap sizes and sits compatibly with gloves, beanies and neck gaiters. The matte finish and neutral black color make the helmet visually adaptable for different kit styles.

• Goggle-compatible shape and strap accommodation
• Simple styling suitable for diverse outerwear colors
• Durable finish resists scuffs from regular use

Who is this for? Riders seeking a straightforward, dependable on-piste helmet will appreciate the Surface S. It’s ideal for recreational skiers and snowboarders, families and teens who want a tough outer shell, good ventilation and an easy-to-tune fit without the weight or complexity of premium touring helmets. If you ride at resorts, value dependable protection and prefer a clean matte look, this model fits as an everyday mountain helmet in a size large.
