D·D DYNAMIC DISCS Opto Ice Orbit Sapphire distance driver, Blue — understable, lightweight glide

The Latitude 64 Opto Ice Orbit Sapphire is a lightweight, understable distance driver built for easier release, longer S-curve distance, and confident throws for developing players.

The Sapphire brings a beginner-friendly distance option to the Easy-to-Use Line, combining a slim profile and a tacky, translucent Opto Ice Orbit plastic for secure grips and durable performance. Designed to pair with the Diamond fairway driver, the Sapphire trades a little more speed for approachable handling, allowing players who are still building power to stretch their range while keeping dependable flight behavior.

How will the Sapphire change my drives on longer holes?

The Sapphire adds speed and controlled turn to help cover more ground without demanding pro-level power. Its understable nature encourages a gentle right-turn (for right-handed backhand throws) before settling into a mild fade, producing an S-curve that maximizes distance for throwers developing their form.

• Flight numbers: Speed 10, Glide 6, Turn -2, Fade 1.5 — tuned for carry and late finish.
• Lightweight construction makes it easier to reach optimal velocity for newer players.
• Slim rim and smooth release reduce torque and promote consistent lines.

What does Opto Ice Orbit plastic feel and do for the disc?

Opto Ice Orbit blends translucency with a soft, slightly gummy feel that improves grip in damp or dry conditions. The plastic holds up well to repeated use, resisting warps and maintaining the originally intended flight characteristics over many rounds.

• Translucent finish with rim burst visuals for a premium look.
• Soft, tacky surface for secure handling and comfortable finger placement.
• Durable polymer mix preserves flight stability after impacts and wear.

How does the Sapphire compare to other beginner drivers?

Compared with many entry-level drivers, the Sapphire offers more speed while staying forgiving in the air. It bridges the gap between fairway drivers and faster distance discs, making it a natural next step when the Diamond becomes too slow for certain tee shots.

• More speed than typical fairway drivers but more manageable than high-speed distance drivers.
• Understable turn helps new players gain extra glide without hard-to-control flipovers.
• Slim profile aids repeatable releases, especially for smaller hands.

What types of shots will the Sapphire handle best?

The Sapphire excels on longer tee shots that benefit from a reliable S-curve, controlled turnover lines, and added glide. It's well-suited for fairway-stretching hyzer-flats, gentle turnover lines, and drives where distance is needed but outright overstability would cost range.

• Controlled distance tee shots with a predictable late fade.
• Turnover lines that finish with a soft hook back toward the target.
• Long S-curve drives on open or semi-wooded holes where glide pays off.

Who is this for? The Latitude 64 Sapphire is aimed at newer to intermediate players who want a manageable first distance driver that still adds meaningful range. It's particularly helpful for throwers with lighter arm speed or smaller hands who need a comfortable grip and an understable profile to translate increasing power into longer, straighter flights. If you already use the Diamond and want a faster partner to tackle longer holes with confidence, the Sapphire is made to extend your bag’s reach while staying easy to control.
