Petzl NOCTILIGHT headlamp diffuser & protective cover — fits Tikka/Tikkina/Actik, soft-glow lantern, impact-resistant

The Petzl NOCTILIGHT is a light-diffusing protective cover that turns a compatible headlamp into a stable, soft-glow lantern while safeguarding the lamp during transport.

The NOCTILIGHT slips over many Petzl headlamp models to soften and spread beam output, creating a comfortable area light ideal for campsites, tents, or bedside use. Built from impact-resistant material, it also prevents accidental activation and protects the lamp from scratches and knocks when packed away. It’s small, lightweight, and designed to work with a wide range of Petzl headlamps for quick conversion from directed beam to ambient light.

How does the NOCTILIGHT change a headlamp’s beam for everyday use?

The NOCTILIGHT diffuses the concentrated beam into a broad, even glow so the headlamp serves as a freestanding lantern. Instead of harsh hotspots, the output becomes soft and usable for close-range tasks or general illumination inside a tent.

• Creates a wide-angle, even light ideal for reading or shared space illumination.
• Reduces glare and hot spots for eye comfort in confined spaces.
• Fits securely over the lamp to maintain stable, consistent diffusion.

Will the NOCTILIGHT protect my headlamp during travel and storage?

Yes — its protective shell shields the headlamp housing from impacts and prevents accidental button presses that can drain the battery. The durable construction helps avoid scratches and light damage while packed with other gear.

• Prevents unintended activation during transport.
• Cushions the lamp against knocks and drops in a pack.
• Helps keep lens and button areas free from scuffs and dirt.

Which Petzl headlamps work with the NOCTILIGHT and how easy is it to attach?

The NOCTILIGHT is built to be broadly compatible with many Petzl models — including popular family and compact lamps — and installs in seconds without tools. Its flexible fit accepts a range of lamp shapes while aligning the diffusion surface for effective ambient light.

• Compatible with Tikkid, Tikkina, Tikka, Zipka, Actik, Actik Core and others.
• Quick, tool-free attachment and removal for fast conversion.
• Secure fit maintains position while in use as a lantern or in storage.

How does using a NOCTILIGHT change battery life and performance?

Diffusing the beam doesn’t alter the headlamp’s electrical draw, so runtime depends on the lamp’s mode and battery type. Because light is spread rather than focused, perceived brightness at distance is lower, making it practical for short-range ambient light without increasing power consumption.

• Runtime remains governed by your headlamp’s chosen mode and batteries.
• Best used for close-range ambient lighting where extreme range isn’t needed.
• Conserves battery compared with high-power focused modes when used as a lantern.

Who is this for? The Petzl NOCTILIGHT is made for campers, family hikers, parents, and everyday users who want a simple way to convert a compatible headlamp into a safe, pleasant lantern while protecting the lamp during travel. It’s ideal for tent lighting, bedside illumination on trips, daypacks, and anyone who prefers a soft, shared light source instead of a direct beam.
